S~•Sacha Das  Sentient Being Traversing the Universal Dream.

#TBT Stellar Traditional Trance, Dance & Psalms of LES FILLES DE #ILLIGHADAD (@lesfillesdeillighadad of @sahelsounds) @hughsroomlive last year on June 30th, 2017. Music is healing & a vehicle to express the Higher Truth through the body temple & senses. • Album/Music: https://lesfillesdeillighadad.bandcamp.com/album/les-filles-de-illighadad - Sublime recordings from rural Niger. Two very different sides of Tuareg music - dreamy ishumar acoustic guitar sessions, and the hypnotic polyphonic tende that inspires it. Guitarist Fatou Seidi Ghali and vocalist Alamnou Akrouni lead the troupe, named after the village. Recorded in the open air studio of the desert. • Tour: https://sahelsounds.com/2018/02/illighadadtour2018/

Their Story:
Les Filles are all from Illighadad, a secluded commune in central Niger, far off in the scrubland deserts at the edge of the Sahara. The village is only accessible via a grueling drive through the open desert and there is little infrastructure, no electricity or running water. But what the nomadic zone lacks in material wealth it makes up for deep and strong identity and tradition. The surrounding countryside support hundreds of pastoral families, living with and among their herds, as their families have done for centuries.

Fatou Seidi Ghali, lead vocalist and performer of Les Filles is one of the only Tuareg female guitarists in Niger. Sneaking away with her older brother’s guitar, she taught herself to play. While Fatou’s role as the first female Tuareg guitarist is groundbreaking, it is just as interesting for her musical direction. In a place where gender norms have created two divergent musics, Fatou and Les Filles are reasserting the role of tende in Tuareg guitar. In lieu of the djembe or the drum kit, so popular in contemporary Tuareg rock bands, Les Filles de Illighadad incorporate the traditional drum and the pounding calabash, half buried in water. The forgotten inspiration of Tuareg guitar, they are reclaiming its importance in the genre and reclaiming the music of tende.

#GuruvāraGanga memories #manymoons ago in #Haridwar on the banks of my Beloved #GangaMa/#Ganga/#Ganges in #India/#AryaBhoomi/#Bharat. 🙏🏽🌊🔱🐚🎶🔥🌈⚡️✨🇮🇳🌋✨🌞🌝
The sacred Ganges River has inspired Masters, Saints & Seers of all backgrounds & walks of life. It is of utmost importance that all communities on the banks of sacred rivers & pilgrims are fully educated & made aware of the importance of keeping these sacred waters clean & pure. The power of prayer & meditation depends on the state of self-realization & expansiveness of unconditional love + compassion, but everyone can make sincere & honest efforts to keep the sacred waters clean & pure. It was a dream come true to be immersed in the sacred waters of Mother Ganga in the sacred lands of Haridwar. From Haridwar it was onwards to Rishikesh & then Gangotri. Mother Ganga has been a constant throughout my life & She often appears in my dreams & visions. Many of my ancestors’ ashes have been immersed in Her hypnotic waves of light & darkness.

#SaturnDayReflections #JAZZ IS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE @ THE HEART & SOURCE. MUSIC SWEET MUSIC...fruits of LOVE...fruits of pain & everything inbetween! THE QUEST FOR THE HIGHER TRUTH! 🙌🏽⚡️🐚🎶🙏🏽💜 #TBT An iconic & landmark one-off, one-of-a-kind performance called "Four Generations of Miles" (Friday, May 26, 2017) featuring:

Jimmy Cobb (drums)
Mike Stern (guitar)
Buster Williams (bass)
Sonny Fortune (sax)
The meditative playing of Sonny was like heaven to watch. Sonny Fortune transitioned on October 25, 2018. Rest in that Soulful Majestic Meditative Power! ✊🏿 Got chance to connect very briefly afterwards & bought him a drink if recall correctly. I was amazed at how he would sometimes stand off on the side, close his eyes & enter the Third 👁, while clasping his hands together. He was seeing, feeling & experiencing the music in whole other dimensions & the spirit of Miles was there...he knew. These cats are so humble & unassuming. It was a lesson I’ll never forget. #SonnyFortuneRIP ———————————————————— #MilesDavis' career as a trumpeter, composer and bandleader is synonymous with the stylistic evolution of jazz. His ensembles and recordings are the benchmarks for cool, post-bop and fusion as evidenced by these four-generations of artists who first gained recognition under Davis' leadership. Drummer Jimmy Cobb appeared on one of the most popular and influential recordings in history, "Kind of Blue" (1959) while guitarist Mike Stern ("We Want Miles," 1981), bassist Buster Williams ("Directions," 1960s) and alto saxophonist Sonny Fortune ("Big Fun," 1974) have the post-bop and fusion bases well covered.

Have a happy & sade #Halloween /#Samhain! 🙀🌬🍁🐚🎶☠️💀⚡️🔥 #tbt a stellar exhibition at @AGOtoronto that challenged the visitors to reflect & question their notions of what is dark, evil, monstrous.

As a child born & brought up in Canada with Bengali parents, this is very much a common theme of my life. I’ve always had friends from different backgrounds & remember some of my very good old friends who were Jewish asking me about all the Gods & Goddesses that were around the house. They were like “Why does she have someone’s head in her hands & has dress of arms & necklace of skulls with blood everywhere?” Young Sacha would be caught off guard & say “I don’t know, why don’t you ask her during puja time? She is Kali...my Ma!” Never got any follow up questions usually. As a child, tended to always be drawn to the “enemies” like Ravana for some reason or another during phases. There are LOTS of horror & ghost stories in Bengali culture & there is one particular record that captivated me for hours & hours on end! The sound effects & imagery were very dark & used to sit by the record player looking at every detail of the art on the record sleeve as the record spinned away from up on high. I managed to track the record down after many years on a visit to Cal aka Kolkata & will post it at some point soonish.
My parents were really liberal & open when it came to these things as Halloween. My Ma would laugh a lot at my costume choices & later on my Dad, bless him, used to make some costumes totally from scratch! He once did a full on vampyre outfit tailor-made with cape! Everyone kept asking about it at school and later on doing the rounds in our neighbourhood. “My dad made it!” They laughed & probably thought I was joking. What innocent times! Me & my mates used to go out by ourselves & stay out late into the night frolicking in the fall leaves & did multiple rounds in different areas. The best candy didn’t last that long, but regular spoils lasted well into November. Horror films were def regular & the norm at my place & got into films like Creepshow with my dad often. He had no clue! 😹🙀👻 “What is monstrous is truly in the 👁 of the beholder”

#MangalvaarMemories & #TýrsDayReveries #manymoonsago in #Kishkindha/#ಕಿಷ್ಕಿಂಧೆ/#किष्किन्‍धा (now known as #Hampi) in #Karnataka in my Beloved #Bharat/#India/#AryaBhoomi. After many hours of trekking in the midday sun through the ancient hills & valleys, it was like heaven setting eyes on the ancient & holy pilgrimage site of #PampaSarovar. It wasn’t really spring at the time, but the lushness & beauty of the sacred waters devotionally evoked the mental images beautifully & poetically expressed in the #Ramayana by Sri #Rama Chandra. Jai Sri #Ram #Lakshman & #Sitaji! Jai #Hanuman! 🙏🏽🏹🌈⚡️✨🐚✨

Thinking back to a lazy midday walk up/down #MarineDrive. A scene that is part timeless painting & part strange Déjà Vu. #Mumbai/#Bombay is for the seers, much like this universe.
