A little logo I just did for Jameson Irish Whiskey. @jamesoncanada Happy St. Paddy's Day you green beer drinking animals! Make sure to have a Whiskey or 4. THE STORY - ‘Chancing your arm’ is a phrase widely used by the Irish that roughly translates as taking a shot in the dark or stepping outside of your comfort zone.
The phrase comes from an old story based in Dublin about two Irish families, the Butlers and the FitzGeralds, who were involved in a bitter feud that resulted into outright warfare. When tensions peaked, the Butlers barricaded themselves in a room within Dublin’s iconic St. Patrick’s Cathedral. In an act of reconciliation, the FitzGerlads cut a hole through the door of the room and offered their hand in friendship. The families shook hands through the door and made peace. ‘Chancing your arm’ is part and parcel of friendship and meeting new people. When you take a chance with a new connection, it can lead to exciting things. . . . . . .
