Firstly, Happy Father's Day to all the devoted Dads out there that will sacrifice their all for their own flesh and blood.
Secondly, no I don't have a child, this is me circa 2001.
Here you can see me teaching myself to drive, haha but really, I've had to teach myself things like how to shave, tie a tie, replace a car radiator, all the way to developing my own morals to live by. I've went through life and it's lessons this far with no one by my side but myself. I may not hold much to my name but it's okay to say that I am proud of myself, those who also don't have a father figure, just remember that, it's okay to give yourself credit for building yourself.
On this day, in school, kids would make their dads Father's Day cards, I would make mine for my Mum because she held the household down herself, single handedly, so thank you to my strong Mum, in the absence of any external support, for teaching me to never give up and to look within yourself to find strength when no one else will bring you up.
Growing up, I didn't have a father figure to look up to, later in life I realised that I've just been looking to myself.
Happy Father's Day to you Mum and to myself. To the people who have been guiding themselves, you're strong and I appreciate you, I'm proud of you, Happy Father's Day to you.
