Dale Blasingame  Hiked all 95 Texas state parks in one year. Now doing all 400+ national parks. @instagramtexas/@hikingtexas host. @lucyandherleash by my side.

The best thing about places like the Grand Canyon is finding solicitude and peace. (Or being creepy and quietly taking pictures of someone finding solitude and peace.)

Under the waterfall at Emerald Pools in @zionnps. Many thanks to @zionforeverproject for giving our #sjmcparks students a 4-hour, guided tour. I truly hope my students took away an appreciation of the dedication and hard work of the park friend groups.

I realize I’m very fortunate to do what I do. How many professors get to hold class in the middle of The Narrows? 📸: @andrewmason_w

It’s hard to put into words the experience of traveling with #sjmcparks students for two weeks to some of the most gorgeous places in the country and watching them work, grow and push their boundaries. But I think this video helps describe the feeling. @texasparkswildlife and @palodurocanyonsp allowed me to fly the drone at the Lighthouse while the students produced content - and you’ll get a glimpse of a few of them working at the top of the second rock formation here. I’m so excited to see how their projects turn out.

Not only did I get to show off The Lighthouse to my #sjmcparks students today, but @texasparkswildlife and @palodurocanyonsp gave me permission to shoot drone footage along the trail. Can’t wait to share the footage in a couple of days.

Great Sand Dunes National Park is all about perspective. It makes you realize how small we really are. Those folks were pretty close to me but still look like ants among the dunes.

Sometimes you meet a person whose words will stick with you the rest of your life. Yesterday was one of those days. We had a scheduled talk with a ranger at Mesa Verde get canceled, and another ranger, Terapin Franks, said he’d step in for our students. Franks is half Native American, and I’ve never heard someone with as much perspective. I can’t wait to go back and transcribe the interviews our students did with him.

A trip to Arizona is incomplete without a stop at Horseshoe Bend. A 270-degree turn of the Colorado River. Rafting this portion last summer was such a blast.

Took the #sjmcparks students for a hike in The Narrows today. I love my job.

Finally got to witness a sunrise at the Grand Canyon. It lived up to expectations.

Mule traffic along the Bright Angel Trail.

We had a long drive today that was broken up by a stop at Petrified Forest National Park. For most of the #sjmcparks students, this was their first experience in a national park. That always makes me feel good to play a small role in that.
