University of Nebraska-Lincoln food science & technology students compete in the Battle of the Food Scientists on Feb. 28, 2018, at the Food Innovation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The competition had two rounds with a panel of judges to score each team’s dish. The first round included a mystery ingredient, a yogurt parfait, that was required to be incorporated in the dish. The teams that received the lowest scores were eliminated and the remaining teams moved on to round two. In round two, each team had to make a dessert using the same chocolate chip cookie recipe. The recipe given was missing certain directions so the teams must determine which are missing in order to complete the dessert. The team of junior Justin Tran and assistant professor of food science and technology Byron Chaves were declared the winners at the end of round two by the panel of judges. 📸: @irwinpanguripan
