Kyle already used all of the best pictures of us together in his post, so here’s a photo I took of him holding the largest female cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus) captured during my master’s research. ————
Kyle and I first met when we were twelve years old. Friendship somehow became something more while we were in high school, and we’ve been a pair ever since. Today is our tenth anniversary. I wish I were an eloquent writer, and I knew how to express exactly what he means to me. But, today at least, I’m not, so I’ll just say this: Kyle is the first person I want to share my most important (and also, more often, unimportant) news with. He’s the person I want to see new places and try new things with. But, he’s also the person whose company I crave most in quiet moments, especially at home. He is the person who occupies my thoughts most often, and whose thoughts I am most interested to know. He is the one person who can evoke (nearly) every emotion I think I am capable of experiencing. He is my best friend and favorite human. We have had a remarkable and adventurous life together so far, and I can’t wait to see what the next decade holds for us. Happy tenth anniversary Kyle. I love you more than I can possibly say.
