Today kicks off the CTNG'S second annual leadership symposium at Camp Niantic! Maj. Gen. Fran Evon, Adjutant General and Commander of the Connecticut National Guard, welcomed over 200 Guard leaders to the two-day seminar focusing on providing commanders at all levels a better of understanding of the tools and resources available to them.
Maj. Gen. Evon took time to thank support staff, including Spc. Jessica Albino, assigned to the Joint Force Headquarters, for the hard work in helping to put the event together!

No man or man’s best friend left behind! Members of the #ctnationalguard hoist a dog and its owner to safety today as part of #searchandrescue missions in support of #HurricaneFlorence relief operations. The CT National Guard sent 10 #Soldiers along with a UH-60 Blackhawk and a CH-47 Chinook helicopter to help with search and rescue as well as transport operations following the storm. #nationalguard #citizensoldier #alwaysreadyalwaysthere #goguard

Approximately 40 members of the 192nd Engineer Battalion were given an official send off tonight in Hartford. The engineer Soldiers will deploy later this week in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan.
While overseas they will be responsible for supervising route clearing missions in their area of operations.
During the ceremony, Soldiers and their families were thanked for their sacrifice and patriotism by the Adjutant General of the Connecticut National Guard Maj. Gen. Fran Evon and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman.

The Connecticut Army National Guard is sending two aircraft along with 10 Soldiers to stage in advance of the impending #HurricaneFlorence. The UH-60 Blackhawk and CH-47 Chinook will set up in Knoxville, Tennessee and await further missions in support of relief operations in the immediate aftermath of the storm.
Both are transport helicopters capable of moving personnel and equipment.

Capt. Ashley Cuprak, victim advocate coordinator for the Connecticut National Guard presented in honor of Women’s Equality Day at the 1109th Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group facility in Groton today. Her presentation highlighted the history of the women’s equality movement as well current and future goals and initiatives that encourage gender equality in and out of the workplace.
Presentations like Capt. Cuprak’s are commonplace in the CTNG to encourage respect and equality within our force and our society.

Recently, we said #farewell to the 1109th TASMG as they headed out for #deployment. Today, the #Connecticut flag they took with them at their send-off flies high over their new home.

Members of Bravo Company, 2-104th Aviation Regiment continue to be hard at work during their annual training at the National Training Center in California, performing sling load operations with CH-47 Chinook helicopters in desert conditions.

Future U.S. Army #Medics nearing the final days of the 68W, Health Care Specialist Transition Course, put their skills to the test as they participated in field exercises at Stone's Ranch Military Reservation in East Lyme this past week.
Approximately 22 #Soldiers from @nationalguard and Reserve units from across the nation rotated through roles as medics, team leaders and security as they approached life-like scenarios staged by the 169th Regiment (Regional Training Institute). The scenarios simulate high-stress environments to test the skills of the aspiring medics while the pressure is on.

While overseas, the 1109th TASMG will provide theater-level, rotary-wing maintenance in support of Operations Spartan Shield, Inherent Resolve and Freedom Sentinel.
