🇺🇸 FTW!
The US-spec McLaren Senna is louder than the version sold in Europe. Louder is better, at least when you're talking about a 789-horsepower British-born hyper exotic. The Senna's noise arrives thanks to a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8, which routes its bark through an exhaust system that exits under the rear wing. On European-spec Sennas, a trio of tailpipes is used. On the U.S.-spec car, it has a different setup comprised of just two tailpipes. According to Jalopnik, the reason stems from tighter noise regulations in Europe versus the U.S. and other parts of the world. The Euro version has a third exhaust outlet, and the other two pipes have baffling that blocks them off at low speeds. The third pipe has an additional muffler, and at higher speeds the baffling opens and the exhaust flows through the upper two pipes with the lower pipe closed off. As for the Senna sent to the U.S. and other markets, it doesn't have the third restrictive pipe and therefore the exhaust system weighs less and the car is able to sing its glorious tune even at slower speeds. This is one time when the U.S. earns a victory on the automotive spec front. Still, the triplet of pipes on the European-spec Senna does look cooler. It's interesting because it's different and it fits the shape of the exhaust outlet space better. We assume that McLaren designed the exhaust opening to work best with the triple pipes for its home market.

The new 2019/2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster
New spy photos show Mercedes is looking to expand its GT lineup with the GT R Roadster. And we don’t even want to talk about the rumored GT R Black Series coming, too. This is our first look at the AMG GT R Roadster, and it looks just like the GT R coupe except it has a convertible top and fixed wing. The Coupe has a retractable wing. Everything else looks like what you’d expect from AMG. The GT R Roadster is long, broad, and angry with an aggressive rear fascia and valance and big, meaty tires tucked up under the wheel wells. Under the hood should be the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 found in the GT R Coupe. It should produce 585 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That allows the coupe to hit 62 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds. The Roadster should perform the same. We won’t know much until Mercedes releases the GT R Roadster’s full details. However, we don’t expect it to change the AMG GT platform formula drastically. Mercedes is positioning the GT as its answer to the Porsche 911 – a platform and nameplate where the automaker can make several different variants at varying price points. The wide range of choices – and prices – means the automaker can make some money on its pricer versions while giving aspiring supercar owners something they can afford. Production for the GT began in 2014 for the 2015 model year, and since then, the automaker has slowly expanded the lineup. The GT R Roadster just happens to be the next model the automaker needs in its lineup before the GT R Black Series. After that, maybe we’ll see a GT R Roadster Black Series, too. Expect the GT R Roadster to go on sale sometime next year.

OUCH! 🤭
Racing his buddy in the white Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG didn’t end well for the driver of this McLaren 720S, who was rear-ended by a Chevrolet pickup truck. The accident took place on the highway between Pattaya and Bangkok, in Thailand, reports MSN, and was captured on dashcam. The Chevy pickup was allegedly travelling at approximately 68 mph, when the McLaren 720S in front hit the brakes hard. The 720s can obviously stop really fast, and it did, but the 29-year old driver of the truck, identified as Weerapong Thongchom, couldn’t make it in time. Thus, he swerved left, his Chevy went sideways and clipped the British supercar. It also hit a Toyota, before coming to a full stop. Damages were minor on all three vehicles involved in the accident, but the 720S was apparently towed away from the scene. By the way, there are reportedly only three 720S McLarens in Thailand, and this one is currently off the streets due to that incident. The owner of the British supercar claimed to have paid around 30 million baht for it, which equals to almost $900,000 at today’s exchange rates, presumably due to the high taxation.

A CAR ENTHUSIAST’S DREAM HOUSE
Thailand’s saARCHOFFICE was tapped to create a luxurious family home, with the only limitation being a specific amount of land dedicated to the venture. To fill the space without sacrificing volume, the architects cleverly bent the shape of the house to fit within approximately 32,290 square feet. The resulting structure, dubbed OKS CASA, is a surprisingly spacious jungle of angular shapes, with sleek, modernistic rooms placed atop one another, arranged so that a bevy of glass walls best catch the natural light. Inside, the abode offers living quarters for service staff, a wine cellar, in-ground pool, in-house theater, shooting gallery and multi-part garage. The most striking part of the latter is a section dubbed the Supercar Gallery, which places a half-dozen Ferrari, Porsche and other sports cars within view of the house’s exterior, with room for 5 more cars in a special gallery and a cockpit room that allows the owner to showcase his current favorite ride.

The all-new (next-generation) 2019/2020 BMW 330i
BMW has released the first details about the 2019 3-Series. Expected to debut at the Paris Motor Show, the redesigned sedan promises to be sportier than ever as the automaker says the car’s center of gravity has been lowered by 0.4 inches. The car also weighs up 121 lbs less than its predecessor. The upgrades don’t stop there as engineers “significantly enhanced” rigidity levels and kept the car’s weight distribution at a perfect 50:50. BMW went on to say agility and steering precision has been improved thanks to a wider track and new axles. The 3-Series is renowned for its handling and engineers paid special attention to the car’s suspension. As part of this effort, they developed an innovative damping system which uses lift-related dampers. While the standard suspension aims to strike a balance between sporty and comfortable, the M Sport Suspension definitely favors the former.  Cars equipped with the sport suspension will have a 0.4 inch reduced ride height and 18-inch lightweight wheels with mixed tires. Cars outfitted with the M Sport Suspension will only be available with the Variable Sports Steering system. Other performance features include an M sports differential with an electronically controlled locking function that is linked to the Dynamic Stability Control system. BMW was tight-lipped about performance specifications, but confirmed the 3-Series will be offered with a “thoroughly revised” four-cylinder petrol engine.  The engine will be the most powerful four-cylinder ever fitted in a production BMW and it will be approximately five percent more fuel-efficient than its predecessor. Part of this increased efficiency is due to the car’s improved eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Rolls Royce Ghost “Silver Ghost Collection”
At the beginning of last century, the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost was named ‘The Best Car in the World’. Now, a modern Ghost from the Goodwood-based brand is looking to pay its respects via a new special edition. Called the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Collection, it was just unveiled by the British automaker and, as expected, it’s offered in a limited production run. Only 35 examples will ever see the light of day, all of them updated so as to underline the fact that they’re special. If you’re not a Rolls-Royce fan, then these changes will probably fly under the radar. However, they do include the Cassiopeia Silver paint, black grille, Hallmark of AX201, which was the registration plate of the original Silver Ghost, hammered copper insert in tribute to the copper that was used extensively in the engine bay of the classic car, and polished wheel centers. But the new Silver Ghost Collection wouldn’t be a true Rolls-Royce limited model without other special touches. So, it gets the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ crafted from solid silver, engraved chrome wheel surrounds, coachline with “pure silver particles”, according to the manufacturer, and open pore Tudor oak with silver onlays. Also letting everyone this isn’t your ordinary Ghost, are the thread plates inside that say ‘Silver Ghost Collection – One of Thirty-Five’, as well as the Forest Green leather used throughout the cabin, to go with all the silver touches. Rolls-Royce hasn’t announced any pricing details yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if all 35 units were spoken for already.

The all-new 2019/2020 BMW Z4 ///M40i
Several pictures of 2019 BMW Z4 surfaced over the weekend and now we’re getting our first detailed glimpse at the upcoming model. Shown here in M40i guise, the model closely resembles the concept as it features a sporty front fascia and sweptback headlights. The car has also been equipped with front fender vents, a long hood and a rakish windscreen. We can also see two roll bar hoops and five-spoke wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system with blue calipers. The sporty styling continues at the rear as the Z4 M40i has a ventilated rear bumper and a relatively short trunk with an integrated spoiler. Other notable styling features include slender taillights, a dual exhaust system and a rear diffuser with metallic accents. The biggest reveal is the interior which is sporty and high-tech. Drivers sit behind a three-spoke steering wheel and face a digital instrument cluster which is similar to the one used on the 8-Series Coupe. The center stack is topped by an iDrive infotainment system which is framed by metallic trim. Further below, we can see slender air vents with metallic surrounds. The center console appears to be relatively slim and it features a retractable panel that reveals a wireless smartphone charger, a small storage area and a USB port. The pictures also show the Z4’s shifter, iDrive controller and a glimpse of the stainless steel pedals. The 2019 BMW Z4 M40i variant will have a new six-cylinder that is “extremely powerful” and expected to use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six that develops around 380 hp. While performance specifications remain unconfirmed, BMW has already said the car will have a locking rear differential and a lowered sports suspension with electronically controlled dampers. BMW will unveil the Z4 on August 23rd, so stay tuned for full details.

FOR SALE: @JonOlsson1’s custom Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² Convertible
Just a couple months after being built, YouTuber and skier Jon Olsson is selling his custom Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² Convertible. The social media star has yet to announce the sale of the vehicle, but we recently stumbled on this listing for the off-roader at @CohenCunild on Mobile.de, a high-end dealer in Marbella, Spain, near where Olsson lives. Listed at $797,000, the bespoke G500 is well over double the figure of the 4×4²’s MSRP price of $257,000. To ensure the vehicle does that, the roof was removed, the windshield was shortened and the B- and C-pillars were cut off. Beyond the removal of the roof, Olsson also had the vehicle outfitted with a range of mechanical modifications, bumping power from the twin-turbo V8 to a formidable 780 hp. Also included are a black and white camouflage wrap, a roof rack, Akrapovic exhaust system, wheels and tires from a G63 6×6, and a heavy-duty winch up front.
