My water load for my weight cut begins today. Starting at 171.8 (165 class) Look out! I’m low on carbs & hangry 👿🤣🍽 j/k lol!! A week out from the meet and I always like to reflect on the offseason... what I did right, wrong, what adjustments need to be made next time, my weaknesses, progress areas, etc. I also have been thinking about how grateful I am to have the people I have in my corner. It can never be said enough. I am extremely blessed to have the support team that I do. @herderjd has been with me on this powerlifting journey from the very beginning of when I started competing. He always is there to encourage me, wrap my knees, give handoffs, and all that stuff that means SO MUCH during the meet and in training. I can’t even begin to express the amount of respect I have for his guidance and help along the way. We both have came a long way and sure have a hell of a lot more in us to show. 🔥💪🏼 .

My wife’s presence at my last handful of meets has helped me tremendously & idk how I did it without her before to be honest. She is my rock. That’s not just words. I mean it. My mental game just keeps getting stronger & stronger with her by my side. She believes in me more than anyone & that energy is more than just motivation to me. Thank you for helping me day in and day out and being the best wife I could’ve ever asked for. ❤️😘 I love you baby!

The last couple days I’ve been fighting sinus issues with these weather ups and downs. 😷 Had to get in part 2 of my circa max yesterday so I worked up to about 80% (305lbs) then did a set of 5 with 295. Still moving weight that would’ve crumbled me a couple years ago very fast, even with fatigue setting in. I called it there to go home and rest up and come back to finish accessory work later that evening. 🚨“Control” is such a funny thing.🚨 Most people want it but as hard as it may be to swallow, there is so much out of our control when it really comes down to it. But this isn’t good nor bad. It’s fact. So if we want to manage stress in our lives better, we need to learn this! .

Things like... getting into a car accident, breaking a bone, getting diagnosed with a disease, losing money in the stock exchange, losing your job, the list can go on forever. It’s stressful just thinking about all the things that COULD happen to you! Damn!!

Whether we put ourselves in the situation we are manifesting or whether things just pop up out of no where. Regardless, learn to let go of those things that are absolutely out of our control, and just stress us out, and find the things we CAN control! This is a huge, huge step in taking control of your very own life. ▫️
For example - you tear an ACL. Sure, there may have been a lot of different things you could have done to prevent it. Hell, maybe you even did some of those things. Regardless, you have a torn ACL. What CAN you do from here? Lots! Get surgery, rehab, physical therapy, diet changes... the list goes on. But dwelling on the problem is nothing but more stress to your body. Make a plan of action! Be a doer - not a “say I’ll do it and never do it” or even worse - a complainer. If you have options, weigh them! Make the best educated decision you can with them. That’s you IN CONTROL!

It’s similar to the other post I shared about being positive and choosing to look at the bright side of things instead of focusing on the negative. Negative mindset = negative life.

Instead of having circumstances happen TO YOU, respond and react to it. Action people! (And if there’s nothing you can do whatsoever (which very, very rarely is the case) then maybe it’s time to be still with your mind and pray... or meditate... or be quiet. Whatever you want to call it or believe in. .

All we are certain of in this world is that we are born. We live. We die. Make the most of the time you have here. Create a positive experience by the only thing you can control, your mind! #positivity #action #staypositive

No, these marks on my body aren’t giant hickeys... and no, my wife doesn’t beat me... 🤣 (although she does tell people I do when she has her markings 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣) I’ve had cupping done on me for the last month or so and really feel like it’s been helping my recovery tremendously. Body has been keeping up great this meet prep. My biceps and forearms might have been the worst (pain-wise) yet because of a lot of scar tissue in those areas which isn’t fun to drag over lol. There was something special about Cayo the minute we met him in the streets of Belize (left). 🇧🇿 Here’s a side comparison to show how big of a difference just a couple months have made! He had horrible skin infections, fleas, ticks, worms, and even some wounds we are unsure of. We were lucky there wasn’t anything worse wrong with him. They estimated him to only be a year old. The cost to treat him and bring him home was much less than the cost of purchasing a new puppy from Petland or even a lot of breeders. So if you ever see a loving dog needing of a home on the streets, know that there are so many helpful rescues worldwide willing to help these guys get the loving homes they deserve. They make the process easy and are so helpful. We can’t thank CAWS in Belize enough for all they did to get our boy home.
