Did you know California State Lifeguards have rescue boats and dive teams? Even though it’s not summer anymore, we still have Lifeguards, Peace Officer Lifeguards and Rangers patrolling the ocean, beach and backcountry for the safety of the visitors and the park. Today, members of the State Parks Dive Team were diving near Crystal Cove on the Surfwatch VI rescue boat when they received a boat in distress call at Abalone Point. California State Parks Boat Operators, Peace Officers, Lifeguards and Dive Team members: Officer Ulrich, Officer J. Kennedy, Officer Shanklin and Officer Wolfe worked together to successfully rescue a boat caught on the rocks at Abalone Point! Remember to always check the surf, tides and weather (know before you go) before heading on any adventure. If you’re boating or fishing near Crystal Cove State Park please be aware of the many rocks and reefs that hide under the surface. These guys got lucky Surfwatch VI was nearby to save the day!
