If you’re anything like us, you’ll probably be out exploring this Thanksgiving Weekend. Tell us all about the adventures you’ve made while enjoying California State Parks, and maybe win a free travel backpack too! Go to your favorite park between November 24th-November26th, 2017 and create a 60 second video or post a photo with your story in the caption. Instead of the usual shopping and traffic, go out and tell your tale. If you do not have a story in our parks, go out and make one and tell us how you are creating new stories at CA State Parks.
How it works:
1. Visit your favorite park or one that you go to frequently from November 24th-26th, 2017.
2. Create a new post on Instagram that tells us a personal story of why that park is important to you. The post can either be a 60 second video telling the story or the photo with the story in the caption. Only one entry per user.
3. Follow @CaStateParks and @EagleCreek on Instagram and use the hashtags #inventyouradventure #CaStateParks #eaglecreek
4. The CA State Parks #inventyouradventure team will then pick the six most creative stories throughout California.
5. All six winners will win an Eagle Creek travel backpack worth over $200.00!
We want to hear the tale of your proposal, the funniest moment of the day, the camping adventure, or any memorable moment that all happened in CA State Parks. Start thinking of where you will go this Black Friday season!

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Crystal Cove! We are thankful for all of our nature loving visitors! Please remember to #inventyouradventure with us tomorrow for Black Friday! We would also like to thank all of our staff (Lifeguards, Park Aides, Peace Officers and Maintence workers) for sacrificing time with their families and keeping the public safe on the holiday!

GIVEAWAY! Join us this Black Friday in the CA State Parks! We see you in adventuring in our parks, but now we want to hear from YOU! This Black Friday Season tell us your stories that have happened in our parks and post on Instagram, because Every Adventure has a Story.

We have been hearing about a lot of tarantula sightings recently 🕷. The Desert Tarantula, native to this area and the Southwest region, is a reclusive spider species that spends most of its life underground. Fall is mating season and the males will venture out of their burrows in search of females! They are nocturnal so you're most likely to see one  around sunrise or sunset.  These spiders are not a threat to humans; please respect all wildlife by giving them plenty of space. Have you been lucky enough to see a tarantula on your hike? Share you pictures with us by tagging #crystalcovestatepark

On Saturday November 11, veterans and military personnel can enjoy FREE admission into Crystal Cove State Park in honor of Veterans Day. Veterans, active, and reserve personnel must show a valid military ID in order to receive free admission. #castateparks #veteransday

Can you guess what tiny burrowing animal created these tracks in the sand?! .... The purple dwarf olive snail! Olivella biplicata. This snail has a smooth, shiny shell that can vary in color. Coastal Native Americans once used these shells as beads for money and trading - they have been found in archeological sites as far inland as Arizona and Idaho! Currently, the snails and shells are fully protected along the shores of CCSP. Look for the tracks during low tide on your next visit to the park! #crystalcovestatepark #castateparksoc #castateparks #marineprotectedarea #olivella #seasnail #nativeamericans

Did you know California State Lifeguards have rescue boats and dive teams? Even though it’s not summer anymore, we still have Lifeguards, Peace Officer Lifeguards and Rangers patrolling the ocean, beach and backcountry for the safety of the visitors and the park. Today, members of the State Parks Dive Team were diving near Crystal Cove on the Surfwatch VI rescue boat when they received a boat in distress call at Abalone Point. California State Parks Boat Operators, Peace Officers, Lifeguards and Dive Team members: Officer Ulrich, Officer J. Kennedy, Officer Shanklin and Officer Wolfe worked together to successfully rescue a boat caught on the rocks at Abalone Point! Remember to always check the surf, tides and weather (know before you go) before heading on any adventure. If you’re boating or fishing near Crystal Cove State Park please be aware of the many rocks and reefs that hide under the surface. These guys got lucky Surfwatch VI was nearby to save the day!
