CPP's Wellness Center  We're Cal Poly Pomona's Wellness Center: open 8am-5pm in Building 46. We specialize in wellbeing: the state of being comfortable, healthy, & happy. 🍎


Mental health is just as important as physical health. Every #MentalHealthMonday we will post mental health tips and resources available for CPP students and staff. The Suicide Prevention Lifeline (swipe left) provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress. Remember, if you have any concerns at all for yourself or someone you love, give the lifeline a call!

Do you ever have trouble falling asleep? A hormone called melatonin is secreted at night that lets our body know that it is time to shut down. Our phones, TVs, and computer screens give off blue light which supress melatonin production. Try cutting out screen time an hour before bed and watch your sleep improve!

Reach for the dark chocolate! Since dark chocolate is higher in flavonoids, it offers the greatest health benefits. It’s a powerful source of antioxidants, improves blood flow, lowers blood pressure, lowers risk of cardiovascular disease and improves brain function. Here are 5 tips for checking condoms before using them correctly! 1. Make sure the condom is not expired 2. Check to see if there are any tears or holes in the wrapper 3. Press on the wrapper to feel air bubble 4. Do not use nails, teeth, or sharp objects to open the package 5. Feel the condom, if it's too dry or sticky, it might not have been stored properly. Did you know there are 3 types of latex barriers that can prevent STI infections?

1. Condoms: most common form of protection, worn during sex (oral/vaginal/anal) on an erect penis and prevents bodily fluid contact.

2. Dental Dams: thin sheet of latex used for oral sex by placing the sheet flat over the vagina or anus. (swipe left)

3. Internal Condoms: larger than a regular condom, it is used by inserting the ring on the closed end of the condom comfortably inside the genital body cavity, while the softer outer ring should remain on the outside of the body during sexual intercourse. (swipe left)

Its important to know that barriers can be used during any form of sexual contact, including genital rubbing, fingering, etc.

Allergic to latex? Non-latex options of all 3 barriers are available and can be used with water or silicon-based lubricants.
