We had a fantastic staff training day this week in Moshi, Tanzania on Human Trafficking,Trauma and Emotional Health. We loved hosting the Binti House staff as well as they work with adult trafficking victims. Equipping our team to care for our girls and care for themselves is one of our favorite things! #endtrafficking #changetheworld

What do we do? Here's a brief update from our Founder/CEO Jenny Williamson

What a blessing that we can care for girls and their babies at our Courage House in Tanzania. This little guy has come to life since he's been with us these last few months and his 16 year old mama is able to focus on her healing, education as well as parenting skills. Learn more about our work and how you can help! www.courageworldwide.org

Our beautiful girls of color, from another country, are walking in freedom (uhuru) and reaching their dreams because of many prayers, unconditional love and sacrificial giving. Did you know that more than 70 girls from many different races have come to our Courage Houses in CA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ and Tanzania? ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ Friends, lets come together as one...every race, every tribe and every nation to make this world a better place. ๐ŸŒŽ www.courageworldwide.org/donate #freedom #uhuru #changetheworld

We believe Tanzania is going to be a major leader in all of Africa in the fight against human trafficking. We were honored to be invited this week to a 3 day human trafficking training with government officials and leaders in Tanzania who are committed to making a difference. Pray for Tanzania and our work here! There is a huge need for aftercare homes for victims. #endit #endtrafficking

Our Courage girls in Tanzania are learning wonderful vocational skills in batik making as well as sewing. Your support is changing lives. Thank you!

So far, in 2017 our team has provided training on Trauma and Human Trafficking to over 2000 people here in the U.S. and in Tanzania, Africa. We've had a diverse group of people who have attended- pastors, law enforcement, social workers, probation and many others in the community who have come to learn how to help victims as well as how to fight sex trafficking in their community. Today our team is training a group in San Francisco. We will be offering our certified training this fall here in Sacramento, in Southern California and in Tanzania, Africa. Stay tuned for dates and locations to be announced soon.

Your giving to Courage Worldwide changes lives, changes communities and changes the world, one individual at a time!
How?
Locally... 1. Our new over 18 program in CA which gives much needed resources and support for victims of sex trafficking.
2. Human Trafficking trainings and awareness events (Not in My City, Not in My State, Not in My Country and now Not in My Life started by prison inmates!) Over 2000 people have been trained so far in 2017. And we are booked to do more trainings in Northern and Southern California.
3. Policy and law change- we will always fight for the children who are victims of sex trafficking at the state level. In the US we have successfully cared for this population for over 5 years in California and we will continue to advocate for their needs with our law makers and collaborate with others who are interested in our Courage House program.
Globally.... 1. Courage House Tanzania. We've doubled this year and are expanding to care for 18 girls (and 2 babies) by September of 2017.
2. Community Trainings in Africa; working with government and the faith based community. There are many open doors for this.
3. Courage House prototype; to date over 50 people have requested that we bring a Courage House to their region! This is both in the US and around the world. Our team is working to get this prototype finished and ready for others.
Join with us in this fight! You your support does make a difference!

There are over 40 former residents now in the community who once called Courage House home. We promised we would be their family. We promised we would walk the long journey of healing with them; equipping, encouraging and empowering them to be and do all they were created to. While we have been supporting them relationally with limited resources, Courage Worldwide is pleased to announce we will now be doing that in a very intentional way with expanded services and resources. We have hired a Human Trafficking Case Manager for our over 18 population, who will be tasked with providing our former residents, as well as any trafficking victims in the community, with the resources that will assist them in becoming independent and successful. Those resources will include, but are not limited to, housing, tuition, therapy, legal services, mentors, day care vouchers for their children, counseling and more. If you know of a trafficking victim (over the age of 18) who needs resources, please email us at info@courageworldwide.org.

News from Tanzania ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ
Pastor Joel and Stephanie Midthun are moving to Tanzania, Africa! Stephanie and Joel have been a part of the Courage Worldwide team since 2009; either as key staff or board members. For the past two years they have been overseeing Courage House Tanzania as well as equipping, encouraging and empowering the Tanzania church and educating them about the issue of child sex trafficking. Under their leadership, we have doubled the number of girls in the home going from 6 to 11 along with two of their babies. We now have a house with a capacity for 18 girls and more girls are being interviewed this week. We have property that once built out (goal for 2018) can house over 40 girls. Stephanie and Joel oversee a staff of 10 employees as well as working with government and community leaders to bring awareness of the plight of these vulnerable child victims and their unique needs. Stephanie and Joel believe God called them to sell their home (which sold in a week), leave the church they founded โ€“ Living Water Community Church in Elk Grove eighteen years ago โ€“ as well as their family and friends to move to Tanzania. Being obedient, they said yes and will be moving this summer. Their last day at Living Water Church will be July 9th. Come join us in sending them off! We call Stephanie and Joel walker walkers, giant slayers and history makers! Please keep them in your prayers!

FACT. Did you know that over 50 people are interested in opening a Courage House in the U.S. and around the world? Most have been through our training and internationally people are waiting for our training. We were contacted this week from someone in Malawi who wants to bring a Courage House there!
