cottonandsago  Uplift forgotten batik makers + preserve the disappearing heritage. πŸ› @luckybokl | @rumareka | @buycottonandsago πŸ“± MyBazar.com | Shopee.com.my

Good morning folks! We're starting the week with a little throwback to last Sunday's Malaysia Day festivities. Our Kamis print has been a crowd favourite and this first time customer with the brightest smile definitely agrees!
How many of you owns @cottonandsago merchandise in the same print? Sila angkat tangan, please! :D

Happy Sunday batik lovers! We're giving you a preview of our latest collection. These ones are by Rashid and we absolutely LOVE the colours! So vibrant and oh-so fresh. These bright colored batik sarongs are enough to make us not dread tomorrow's Monday blues. πŸ˜‰

This print by Kamis is still an all time favourite with our customers, both regular and new clients. We keep an older version of this print because its design is so simplistic and yet, beautiful.

Wan Azhar on Wan Azhar.
We can't decide which of his two prints get to be featured on our page today, so we went with both because you can't ever go wrong with pink and golden hues combination. Also, because they're both equally beautiful.

Which of the two do you πŸ’“ more? Tell us!

Okay, Pok Ya was over simplifying the whole batik block making process because one essential equipment, the foot pump blowtorch is required to solder the copper stamps together. Can you hear the sound of air being pumped? That's the sound of Pok Ya's right foot pumping the blowtorch!

We asked Pok Ya on our recent visit to Kuala Terengganu, "What are the essential tools to make these batik blocks?" He replied nonchalantly, "Plier, plier, another plier, metal cutting scissors and a tweezer," Simple stuff he said.

We developed our serama collection back in 2016 and have been keeping them in hiding. We spent more time pushing prints by the batik smallholders we're working with. And ... recently, we added another batik stamp to the collection. πŸ˜…

We probably need to release the collection soon.

Why ayam serama? For a start, ayam serama is a native Malaysian fowl. As we travelled out to the more rural parts of Terengganu, we noticed some kampung folks proudly kept serama roosters as pets. That intrigued us.

Maryam also inherited some of her maternal grandmother's songket which carries rooster motifs. Dr Norwani Nawawi of UiTM shared that in the olden days, rooster as an ornament on a fabric would signify strength, courage and patience.

We hope to be releasing EXCLUSIVE PRINTS before the year ends. Finally, the courage to do so. When exactly you ask? Well, you've got to watch this space!

Now, what colours should we experiment with? πŸ€”

We had to prevent ourselves from going on full fangirl mode when this customer came to check out our men's slim shirt collection. Before we realised who he was, we complimented on the shirt he was wearing. He then told us that he was looking for something as colorful and decided to go with this customer favourite print. Could you tell how excited we were by how awful this picture was taken? We lost whatever coolness we had when he okayed us for his photo to be taken 🀩

Thanks for shopping with us @bernard.chauly!

We present you @cottonandsago's unofficial Malaysia Day bazaar model - Mr. Johan. We heard from a reliable source that the reason why he decided to go with this popular Rashid batik print is because of its colours. The shirt can be worn on casual occasions and also on Chinese New Year celebrations. This is what we call a smart customer!

Johan wears our men's slim fit shirt in L size.

Shareen and MamaSiti tapau-ed three of our sarongs and were such a delight in sharing their interest for Terengganu batik. We πŸ’“ chatty customers and they were simply lovely when they paid a visit to our booth.

Check out their @sitilifood

Oh dear, we just realised that it's veteran banker, Datuk Charon shopping with us here. We hope we're not too selamba serving him. πŸ˜… This handsome gent bought a men's slim fit shirt in one of our more popular prints. He wears an XL sized shirt, and when we told him that we are running low on all the larger sizes, he replied us with, "You should produce more shirts in XL, XXL and XXXL because those who can afford your shirts wear these sizes"

Thank you for your suggestion, sir. It's always good to hear feedback from our customers :) #latergram #HARIMALAYSIA #MalaysiaDay #madeinmalaysia #lovelocal

Beautiful Sherrina came to our booth just so that she could show the batik print she got from us some few months back. We are loving this custom-made top! Love the smile she so generously flashed for us when we requested to take her photo. πŸ˜„
