'To Lift'. American artist Richard Serra is best known for creating minimalist, monolithic sculptures, that explore gravity, space and time. This triangular, cave-like shape in vulcanized rubber takes its inspiration from a list of action minded infinitives – ‘to roll,’ ‘to crease,’ ‘to fold,’ and ‘to bend,’ – created by the artist back in 1967. At côte&ciel we manipulate space in humbler, but no less impactful, ways – often starting with a simple piece of fabric that can be shaped and manipulated to create new dimensions in bag design.
