Today is a special day... In 1988 Chuck Russell's THE BLOB (written by Frank Darabont) was one of the greatest monster movies to grace my top-loading VHS player. Tonight I get to go to Tarantino's New Beverly Cinema and watch it in 35mm at Midnight with a sold out audience. Dream come true. I love this movie so much, it's what an 18/R-Rated Spielberg monster-movie might look like. The inventive practical/optical/non-digital/stop-motion effects are truly stand out incredible and it's a rare beast of an achievement; like Carpenters THE THING before it, to have made a reasonably big-budget, R-rated blockbuster creature feature, and its so much fun. The Blob is an underrated delight. See some of you later on! "The organism is growing at a geometric rate. By all accounts, it's at least a thousand times its original mass..."
