“My name is Lidia — I feel privileged to share my thoughts with you.
I am profoundly grateful to everyone who has made CoEd’s existence and expansion possible.
To me, education is liberation from the mental constraints of poverty and ignorance. CoEd’s Culture of Reading Program is a tried, professional methodology that helps students receive a good education. I feel that CoEd’s presence in my school is a miracle, because none of the school districts or schools in my county provide the high-quality training that CoEd provides.
I think that all students and teachers should have this opportunity to join the Culture of Reading Program, because the learnings are necessary. However, I understand that change is gradual.
The best way of demonstrating the impact the Culture of Reading Program has had on my life is to continue applying what I have learned even when no one is in my classroom observing me. I will do this with the conviction that education is the best method of producing a positive change in our Guatemala.” ―Lidia, a teacher in CoEd’s Culture of Reading Program
