Back to base. Growing into my skin.

Whenever you are in doubt, it is best to pause.

I remember during my cheer and pole days, all I ever wanted to achieve was my front splits.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I chased after it impatiently, and in retrospect, unsafely.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I injured myself so much in the process to the point that I wrote it off as something I will never be able to achieve and abandoned the dream in the same shelf as being a mermaid and becoming Singapore's first female prime minister.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
After reading @eternalpriyan 's post saying that every time you practice, you are contributing to your splits in some way, I tried it again today, and hey! Lookie here! And no pain or pinching too!
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Swipe right to where I was just 2 years ago. Today's attempt may not be 💯but it's getting there.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Like many things, with time, patience and listening to your breath and body, maybe things may finally start opening and presenting itself to you.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Next stop - mermaid-hood!

'Cause when it all falls down, then whatever
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
When it don't work out for the better
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
If it just ain't right, and it's time to say goodbye
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
When it all falls down, I'll be fine.

If it's not a "hell yes!", it's a "no".

Looking back on this final day of 2017, all I've got in my heart is gratitude.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Despite all the rough and choppy waters, I'm blessed I've come out of it rather weather-beaten, but with all limbs, heart and mind intact (I hope).
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I'm grateful for the friendship and love of my loved ones, the kindness I've received, the forgiveness gotten though undeserved and the opportunities that have been presented to me. On and off the mat.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I may not express it well, but I'm thankful for each and every one of you in my heart of hearts.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Here's to 2018 - that it may be kind to all of us and that we find more openness in our hearts and that we always find time and ways to connect with our breath.

Here's to hearty laughter, mindful being and finding your way the wrong side down so things make sense the right side up.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
On and off the mat.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
With kindness for all, and malice for none - Merry Christmas.

2017 - you have been a tough motherf*****.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
So much pain, so many trails, so many beat downs and rolling with the punches.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
But you have made me better for it. And I will rise in 2018 like a Phoenix and I will knock your freaking socks off.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Onwards and upwards.

About last weekend: got my cert in Yoga Therapeutics: Application in Body Works!
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
It was super fun and relaxing. I don't think I've spent that much time in a parasympathetic state ever.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Which adds to my biggest takeaway - that a person cannot function in a continually braced and tense state. That in order to be whole, healthy, happy and growing, sometimes we need to be able to relax and release.

Light it up.

Crossing that bridge when I came to it.

The tendons in my shoulders feel like they are made of steel, trying to get them to open.
