My first early morning run since the time change! With @knuckle.lights and @sabresafety pepper spray in hand, I actually finished before sunrise! .

Today I added my first tempo run of this training cycle. It wasn't very long or fast, but it felt good to move my legs a little quicker than usual. .
.
On the blog today we're talking about how to prepare when you're young to keep running when you're old. What can you do to keep your body healthy and strong so you can keep running and not become one of those former runners who "had" to stop running. .

Taking a cue from @runningonthefly and taking a step challenge! How does she make this look so easy? Stairs are HARD!!!!

Such an amazing sunrise on the first day of spring deserves a salutation! How are you celebrating the spring equinox?

We spent a fun day with the grandchildren (and their parents)! Dang, kids grow so fast!

A 4 mile recovery run brings my weekly mileage to 25! Nice to start seeing results. We were both a bit tired this morning. @alantwoodruff had ridden his bike 3 days in a row and I was on my 4th running day in a row. Now off to visit the grandchildren!

8 miles today! My longest run since...well, since I can't remember when! The last mile was tough, but, since it's all uphill that's to be expected. This gives me more confidence about the #allday20k at the Carlsbad 5000 in a couple weeks! Hey SoCal peeps, will I see you there?

The wildflowers aren't the only things that are popping right now. #nofilter on these gorgeous bougainvillea. I thought I'd go for the match in pink today!

To be honest, I felt like crap this morning. I woke up with a migraine, took my medication, which helped the headache but left me feeling lethargic. So what do you do when you feel like you can barely put one foot in front of the other?

Yep, as I was slogging along this morning, I remembered a tip from my #RRCA coaching class instructor (Randy from @runtucson). We were talking about slowing down during a marathon. You get tired you slow down , right? His suggestion was to speed up! Do a burst of higher speed to help get out of that low point.

Guess what? It worked! I did several fartlek intervals, just focusing on form and pushing myself a little. And while I certainly didn't set any speed records, I felt and ran much better! #runningtipoftheday
