Lessons learned:
I tried it Friday and did much better than last year. But I was still hungry for a better score. This morning I went in early to try again. I really thought I could finish the handstand push ups, but I didn't. My score was actually worse this morning than Friday.
.
I was frustrated and mad. I had been thinking about this WOD all weekend. I was strategizing over and over in my head. How could I let myself fail?
But I knew better than to dwell on the frustration.
.
I was reminded of two extremely important virtues. Stay humble. Stay hungry.
.
STAY HUMBLE. Not everyday is a PR. It takes time to prepare and get better. I will fail. And when I do, get over it.
.
STAY HUNGRY. Let the failure be yet another reason to push harder next time! It is actually a good quality to expect only the best from myself. That drive creates champions.
.

NEVER SETTLE

This year I've had some huge goals. One of them being to make it on a team for the CrossFit Games in 2018.
.
I've been told "it's not possible", "you probably can't", "that takes way too much work", and "sorry but it probably won't happen."
.
Whenever someone says any of theses things, you have two options.
.
Either listen and give up or let their doubt fuel your fire to try harder.
.
What is there to loose?
.
In my case I'm already not at the Games. I can't be any more not at the Games than I already am. .
If I try hard and get there, that would be incredible!
.
If I try hard and don't make it, at least it's going to be one fucking awesome, sweaty, exhilarating fight!
.
Set goals outside your comfort zone.
.
People should laugh at you because your goals seem so unattainable.
.
May their doubt be your fire.
.

I never get tired of these #ThrowbackThursday
In the later half of 2014 I decided to make a change. I started working out and realized I actually liked it!
.
I had been afraid to step foot in a gym my whole life. I was too insecure and scared of judgement. It was easier to not try hard things than risk failure.
.
In January 2015 I wanted to make the next step. I got a personal trainer and started working out every day. I was really enjoying it till my job changed and I "ran out of time" for the gym.
.
It wasn't till the end of 2015 that I discover #CrossFit .
.
CrossFit quickly became more than a workout for me. My whole life I struggled to fit in. This stemmed from my low self esteem/insecurity rooted in my sexuality. People liked me, but in my head I always felt distant. I wasn't out until I was almost 19. I feared that people wouldn't like me if they knew I was gay. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
.
But CrossFit changed this for me. I was surrounded by positive people. For the first time since coming out, I didn't feel like the "gay guy" of the group. I just felt like an ordinary regular member. Everyone was encouraging and I suddenly started to excel in an area I never believed I could.
.
And here I am, a year and a half after starting CrossFit. I've got a ways to go still, but I'm determined to make my goal of competing on a team at the #CrossFitGames ! I'm finally dialing in my nutrition and supplements which have been a game changer!
.
In the last 2 months I've gained 10 lbs of lean muscle thanks to @1stPhorm and the #transphormation challenge. I wish I knew about diet 2 years ago. I'd be a monster! Lol

Repeat this cycle for 28 mins.

Pray for us. We lost everything but the clothes on our backs today. Our new life was perfect but short lived. Me and Chris were fortunate enough to walk away with our lives. I only suffered a small burn to my hand and a hurt shoulder from trying to knock down a door and save my babies...Unfortunately Moose and Rocky did not make it. I am numb. Typing that doesn't feel real. I know God has a plan. Just please pray.
