Planned to crush a low 19 min 5k this morning. My picture partner and myself (along with two others not pictured) finished in the 34th minute. A fellow running experienced a medical emergency just under 2 tenths into the course that included not only full contact with a stopped vehicle, but ending face down in a ditch. All of this happening feet in front of me. Our interaction lasting approx. 10-12 min. went as smoothly as it could have. While the race director was there in minutes with emergency contact info, we're not always so lucky. This individual had an altered mental status and was not able to clearly communicate medical history to us, or incoming emergency response. This is the reason my @roadid never leaves my wrist. Im able to provide my name, year of birth, emerg contact, medical history and med allergy info even when im unable to speak for myself. If he had been wearing one, or ANY medical ID we could have identified and notified more efficiently. .
