Cannes Lions 2018 - The One That Got Away

Winner of the Cannes Lions category PR is LadBible and Plastic Oceans Foundation "Trash Isles" by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

Wendeline Sassen of Havas Lemz, of the PR Jury, will be sharing insights at 'The One That Got Away' on Wednesday the 4th of July at Pathé Tuschinski. 'Brands and agencies are beginning to realize that only meaningful ideas stand out. Personally, I always look at if an idea has a positive impact on the lives of people and society if it's innovative, true to the heart of the brand, if it shows brilliant craftsmanship and if the idea earns attention and can create an attitude or behavioral change? 'The Direct Lions celebrate and reward response-driven and relationship building work that works. Our jury has been sweating away hunched over our laptops looking at hundreds of entries and it was another great year for Cannes! My hope for Cannes was to see really brave work from global brands that mark a shift away from an over-reliance on data-driven creativity and work that is provocative, relevant and valuable as possible. Winner of the Cannes Lions category Creative Data: The Times / News UK & Ireland "JFK Unsilenced" by Rothco/Accenture Interactive

Bas Korsten from JWT Amsterdam, of the Creative Data jury, will be sharing insights at 'The One that Got Away' on Wednesday 4th of July at Pathé Tschuchinski. 'Creative Data is definitely one of the most interesting categories because it’s looking to the future: it’s about using data to boost creativity. We have been watching thousands of case videos of varied quality, online and in Cannes. Having won the Grand Prix in creative data for The Next Rembrandt, I have looked for ideas that set a new standard and make us look at the future of data with hopeful eyes. My jury included some super interesting people from the likes of IBM, the New York Times, MasterCard, Accenture and Droga5, so Cannes for very interesting and I'm excited to share my insights at The One that Got Away'

Cloudfactory's Jessica Kersten, of the Film jury will share insights at 'The One that Got Away' on Wednesday the 4th of July at Pathé Tschuchinski. 'I truly believe that brands that contribute and invest in a better world, will be loved. It's a win-win. The idea is most of the time the first building block, but expressing it in the right way, is just as important. For me, film is the greatest way to express any brand story. Bas Verhart, founder of DFFRNT Media, who was on this year's Cannes Lions Entertainment jury. 'Entertainment can be used to create an emotional reaction that will lead to action. CHAMPIONING CREATIVE EXCELLENCE

Each juror will present two pieces of work:
1. 'The One That Got Away’ – work that did not bring home a Lion, or perhaps was not even entered, but that we should celebrate and learn from
