Coffee date with my stroke inspiration. @cmccann95 had a brainstem stroke at 15. His family were told he would have the mental age of a 7 year old. He is now studying law at university, he learnt to write with his left hand, he can run having to wear a leg splint. #heisincredible #hedoesntknowhowmuchhehelpedme #thereisnothingwecantdo #disabilitiesdontdefineyou #brainstemstroke #lifeafterstroke #youngstrokesurvivors

Botox time again, it helps to release tightness in my arm. Hoping it helps release my fingers which are very tight. #botox #medicaluse #beatinglockedin #brainstemstroke #strokerecovery #strokesurvivor #lifeafterstroke

Facebook memory 2 years ago today. In this picture I was completely paralysed, unable to talk, I blinked to my friends. I had locked in syndrome. I remember being told that day I didn't understand my condition, I wouldn't walk out of hospital and I wouldn't talk. Today I walked and talked with friends and family. #daretodream #believeinyourself #believeintheimpossible #nevergiveup #beatinglockedin #brainstemstroke

Best mum in the world, stepping out for stroke with me. Our first mile walk together. #bestmumever #lovehersomuch #makemaypurple #stepoutforstroke #lifeafterstroke #beatinglockedin #brainstemstroke #strokesurvivor #strokerecovery

Making me laugh, he shifted a fallen tree so I could have a clear path! Today was the furthest I got along the Forrest trail! #lovelife #loveseeingimprovements #funtimes #walkingbuddies #heman #beautifulsperrins #beatinglockedin #brainstemstroke #strokesurvivor #strokerecovery #nevergiveup #lifeafterstroke

I had to visit A&E this morning before work, to have a review x ray of my elbow from a fall. Falls can be discouraging but I am so excited, I can now jump! It may only be a few centimetres of the ground but the explosive power needed for running is coming! 😁#icanjump #itwillgethigher #legsgettingstronger #iwillrunagain #beatinglockedin #brainstemstroke #strokesurvivor #strokerecovery #nevergiveup

Learning to write with my left hand is challenging as I was right handed before stroke. It is especially challenging at work when I'm discussing things on the telephone and only have one functioning hand. With a telephone headset I can talk and write. #iamalefty #ihaventgivenuponmyright #learningtowriteagain #handwritingpractice #beatinglockedin #brainstemstroke #strokerecovery #strokesurvivor #thinblueline

There is nothing as effective at communicating as the human voice and touch. Having spent months with locked in syndrome only able to blink I love you to my family and having nurses hold both my arms up to hug my family, has made me appreciate simply now being able to move one arm and being able to say I love you. #humanvoice #touch #powerofcommunication #sayiloveyou #givehugs #appreciateallyouhave #beatinglockedin #brainstemstroke #strokesurvivor #strokerecovery #conquerstroke #livelifetothefullest #bonnieandclyde #minatureschnauzers
