René - People are beautiful 💛  The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion. Married with children I Amsterdam Creep factor zero - 🐻 relax 🐻

Thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a rally in the stunning St. Émilion wine region just northeast of Bordeaux. Teamed up with four local people in a small Renault, it has been a great challenge to be speaking French all day in order to find our way between the numerous more or less famous châteaux and solve the questions (in English 😉) from the envelopes handed to us. This picture was shot right across the road from Château Pétrus which produces Pomerol wine considered absolute world class. Une région vraiment impressionante!

@daniel87oss "paving" the way for his teammate @gregvanavermaet to win the 260km cycling classic @parisroubaix. Due to its 30 sectors of multiple kms of cobblestones the race is usually referred to as "Hell of the North".

Piazza San Marco in Venice - and my feathered friend again 😆

Sightseeing seagull skipping the ground level lines in front of Basilica di San Marco in Venice. Knowing their way around, this one was most likely heading straight for one of the city's fish market stalls. Great to hear their complaining, meowing cries again, reminding me of their numerous loud family members crowding the rocky cliffs of Costa Brava in Catalonia.

Some rainy "gondole" in covers waiting patiently for their wealthy tourists in the green Venetian laguna water at San Marco, with a view here of San Giorgio.
To me Venice has characteristics of, on the one hand, a piece of art, as it seems to serve no other purpose - nowadays - than to be what it is. And on the other hand, in order to experience this - highly recommended and overwhelming - it's almost a theme park rather than an open air museum, its web of narrow streets being flocked by tens of thousands of roaming pedestrians during daytime and totally deserted and silent by night. "What time does it close?" is a question that, rumour has it, is sometimes asked here...

Venice, Italy - when between rain showers the sun lights up this magic ancient city

10 minutes from home on my Sunday training ride I was so impressed with the light that I decided to stop to shoot this picture. (Very unusual for me because when cycling I tend to set no other priorities.) Having already taken a shortcut had made me feel confident I was going to beat the oncoming rain front home. However, having resumed my so far sunny ride, a kilometer ahead I had to cross this canal and when I got there the bridge's barriers were closing right in front of me. Now the first rain started falling... 3 long minutes later the boat had passed and I was lucky there had meanwhile been only a few more drops of rain. But instead of relaxing to cool down as usual from here on I realised I had now better speed up for the final few kms. Literally within 2 minutes from arriving home the dark clouds burst and from inside I watched the rain flood the garden terrace. My dear friends, I hope your Sunday has been as well spent as mine, enjoy your week ahead!

Florida 6 PM local time - guess where hurricane Matthew is: the area has been cleared of all aircraft except the Orion gathering storm data.
