@pearlnwa Caribbean Carnival is loved by many in the Caribbean, especially Haitians. Whether you attend carnival in New York during Labor Day weekend, or Miami in October you can rest assure you will run into a Haitian waving the red and blue flag. What you don't always see however is a Mas band dedicated to how Haitians are accustome to celebrating this envigorating event. Meet Stephanie Sainvil, the young lady who is dead set on changing that in Atlanta GA If you don't already know, Memorial weekend, Saturday of Memorial weekend to be exact is when the Caribbean people of GA get together to showcase their roots as it pertains to Carnival. After attending the event back in 2002 and not seeing a dedicated Haitian float, she did what any poto mitan would do; she gathered some of her friends and together they formed "For the love of Haiti" Carnival troupe. They represented Haiti for several years than decided to take a break.
After GA officially declared the month of May Haitian Heritage month championed by Representative Erica Thomas, Stephanie felt that it was only right to get the troupe back together again, and so "For the love of Haiti" was rebirthed as Pearl Nwà .
