Channel Islands Surfboards  A Rider’s Review of the Neck Beard 2:

A rider review of the all-new Neck Beard 2 co-desgined by Dane Reynolds is now up on the independent test ride site @surf_n_show —link to page in bio and story. Once there, you’ll also find a bonus interview with Britt which contains added insights on the NB2.
.
As always, Noel takes viewers on a thorough review, replete with great video of him riding the board to illustrate the points he makes throughout, including in-depth info on fin options. What’s unique about this episode is that we sent Noel three custom Neck Beard 2 boards with the exact same dimensions (5’5” x 19 1/8" x 2 ¼” with 25.9 liters), but each one had a different construction. The first board is EPS construction with a set of medium sized glass-on fins—just like @sealtooth’s NB2 board that was prominently featured in Stab’s new surf film The Electric Acid Surfboard Test. There is an additional EPS built board but with our new Spine-Tek reflex technology (a certified Eco Board construction process). And the last board is built with traditional polyurethane.
.
When it came to updates on the Neck Beard, Dane asked for a few specific tweaks. A big fan of single concave, we turned the original Neck Beard’s double concave to single throughout. This changed the rocker landscape some, but in a very positive way—enhancing its wave entry, down-the-line speed, and overall control. We also widened the tail block 1/2” and added a slight hip, resulting in increased responsiveness and maneuverability.
.
Dane prefers the Neck Beard 2 as a tri-fin, but it comes with a five-fin setup to get the best of both worlds. And it’s worth noting that @eithanosborne won $20K on the Spine-Tek tri-fin version in the recent Stab High event at the BSR wave pool in Waco, TX.
.
You can see Dane ride the Neck Beard 2 model in @stab’s new film The Electric Acid Surfboard Test—now available on iTunes and Amazon.

@ConnerCoffin fresh off a semis finish in France is still feeling the vibe down in Portugal, taking a R1 win and straight on to R3!
.
Back here at our Santa Barbara board factory we're cheering on Conner and all of our incredibly talented surf team competing on the World Tour. Their surfing inspires us to continuously refine what we design and build to help them win these events. And what's rad about this never ending process is that you ultimately benefit from the intensive R&D that shapes our leading surfboard models like the Fever and informs when to apply game-changing reflex technologies like SPINE-TEK.

@danedamus on the Rocket Wide: "My brothers and I loved the speed and control we were feeling with the Rocket 9 and we wanted to see with CI shaper @mike_andrews3 how we could apply those same levels of fun and performance to a board for small and gutless waves. The Rocket Wide features a wider tail block to skate across flat sections and a wider nose area to accommodate for better paddle power. It’s a shorter, wider skate machine designed to lift the fun factor when the waves are not a their best. That said, this design is way more versatile than we ever imagined. Also, if you want some added magic, the Spine-Tek built Rocket Wides up the ante performance wise. And it's pretty rad that all CI Spine-Teks are Eco Board certified!"
