Whenever life feels too frenetic, I lose myself in the woods. Amongst the trees, where the silvery mist drifts, all I can hear is wind and birdsong. I follow the paths that weave through the beeches, gathering ramsons as I go. Eventually, I wind my way home, refreshed and soothed by my time within the trees.🌿 #WHPgetlost

‘Nothing is more wistful than the scent of lilac’ - Stevie Smith 💜🌿

Oh May. You truly are the most magical month, with your frothy hedgerows and dappled sunlight. ☀️ The warm air is sweet with the scent of cow parsley and hawthorne blossom, dandelion seeds are floating like sleepy fairies in the breeze. On the horizon are golden fields, and the mist drifting over the river, and my heart hurts with the perfect loveliness of it all. 🌿✨

{#ad} As a lilac-obsessed window-lover, this little corner was a piece of heaven to me! Upstairs in the gorgeous London house where I attended the @creatingforgood cinemagraph workshop with @Taylors, it was the perfect spot for a quiet Fika moment, inspired by @Taylors mellow coffee blend. ☕️📖💜🌿 Thanks to those of you who picked a cinemagraph for me on my stories- this one was your overall fave, which was nice, as it was mine too. 🙏🏻#cfgextraordinaryjourney

‘Sometimes I need
only to stand
wherever I am
to be blessed. ‘ -Mary Oliver 🌿

‘Now that lilacs are in bloom
She has a bowl of lilacs in her room
And twists one in her fingers while she talks.’ - T.S. Eliot (from Portrait of a Lady) 🌿💜

After a long, hot weekend of endless glorious sunshine, I awoke to pale grey mist. As soon as I’d dropped the children at school, I grabbed my camera and hurried to the cool, garlic-scented woods. The new green beech leaves were luminous in the gloom, and the air was damp, and thick with birdsong. I walked and walked, meandering happily amongst white starbursts of wild garlic petals. These woods are always beautiful, but carpeted with flowers, glowing trees enrobed in silvery mist, today they felt truly magical. 🌿✨ {More sylvan scenes on stories.} #littlestoriesofmylife

I cut these branches of blooms for the lady who had planted the magnolia tree outside my kitchen window, when she owned the house, years before. Too shy to knock at her door, I left them outside with a note, but weeks later, when I saw her in the street, she told me that they had made her smile and reminded her of the tiny sapling she planted so many springs ago. 🌸 #littlestoriesofmylife

{#ad} It seems I can’t help but be drawn to staircases! After a brilliant workshop with @creatingforgood’s talented @candidsbyjo, learning to tell stories through the art of cinemagraphs, I grabbed a cup of @taylors coffee and a stack of books. There was a pocket of dreamy light at the bottom of the stairs and I experimented with a serene cinemagraph inspired in mood by the Fika coffee blend. I loved the opportunity to experiment with a new creative process, and whilst I’m definitely still learning, there’s something magical about the cinemagraph and its blend of photography and subtle movement. If you gave me feedback on stories, thank you- I’ll be posting the cinemagraph you chose very soon. ☕️📖✨ #CFGextraordinaryjourney

Happy May Day! Several years ago, I began making May Day Posies, inspired by my friend Lou @littlegreenshed, who re-invigorated the ancient tradition of May Baskets- gifts of flowers given secretly on the first of May. I’ve been gathering blooms on the first day of May every year since. My May Day Posies are jam jars of flowers picked from the garden and foraged from the verge, left on the doorsteps of friends as a May Day gift. As I’ve been in London since the early hours today, the posies pictured are from last year, but nonetheless I’ll be delivering this year’s flowers before sundown- you can take a peek on stories. 💐 {Oh, and ever-inspiring Lou has an exciting project launching this May- check out @sisterhood_camp for details.} 💕

‘The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.’
