You don't get paid for the hour. You get paid for the value you bring to the hour.
Interesting email conversation I had earlier in the week with a old classmate We graduated from the same post secondary program and she was a steller student. For her career haven't been able to move ahead beyond mid-entry level jobs. She is so insistent to only put on the 8 hour day and the breaks and not go beyond the job description. Yet wondered why she wasn't getting ahead in her career. She asked me to help her get an "in" with my current company as a buyer (it's a manufacturing firm). I declined since its been years since school, I have not worked with her professionally and has no buying experience. She was upset and took it personally. I left her with this quote to think about.
