Heading into a crazy Monday after this whirlwind weekend in Chicago leaves me with some major caffeine needs today. Wishing I had a scoop of the Baruir’s Blvd from @blissstreetcreamery for an afternoon pick me up. Or for breakfast, because anytime can be ice cream time. The Baruir’s Blvd is a coffee ice cream made with beans roasted at Baruir’s Coffee one of the oldest operating businesses in Sunnyside. Hey food lovers- What’s your favorite bar snack these days!? I’m always into shishito peppers and the so impressed with this happy hour HEAP of peppers from @dogduck46 in Sunnyside.

I lived in Brooklyn my first three years in New York which meant I barely, if ever, went to queens. This meant a journey to Flushing involved nearly 3 hrs of travel via MTA, so it was unfortunately not on my radar. Now that I live in Queens I’m excited to explore the borough more and learn about cuisines I’m less familiar with. Last week we went to Flushing and tried the Dandan noodles at @alley41official. I did some reading beforehand about Sichuan cuisine, and the numbing qualities of the Sichuan peppercorn. I will admit have the spice tolerance of a baby, and have quite a bit of work to do, but could fully appreciate those hand pulled noodles, and the heat of the chili oil. Of course this called for a #noodlelift, but I was struck by how beautiful the dish was before it was mixed. (Swipe for that photo.)

I’ve eaten waaaay too much ice cream this weekend. So I’m definitely seeing some salads in my future this week. I HAAAATED salads growing up, but I’ve learned that not all salads are created equal and some are actually pretty great. I’m also glad I work near @schnippers Newly renovated 41st st location, they have a bunch of salads on the menu! It’s all about balance, friends!

I might be working today, so I’ll just daydream about patio brunch weather and the #breakfast burger from @idasnearabout. 🍔🍳🥑

If you can’t get to the beach on this scorcher of a day, let @nizzanyc bring the ocean to you. The linguine alla volngole is a trip tis the sea, best enjoyed with a frozen aperol spritz. Stay cool out there friends. 😎

Is anyone else blown away by how much meat-free meat has improved in the past few years?! 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️Vegetarians and meat eating friends rejoice because this protein lovers pizza from @sweetearthfoods is meat free, and absolutely delicious! Everyone can join the pizza party! (Ps-they have a vegan pizza too!!) Thank you @sweetearthfoods!

After multiple recommendations we finally made it to @cemitaseltigre and it did not disappoint! Went with fried chicken 10-Layer Cemita: Mexican sesame seed bun, avocado, Oaxaca cheese, chipotle, papalo, pickled onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and bean purée. Don’t pass up those massive onion rings either!
