I got this shell of a nautilus (the German name is Perlboot 🐚 which translates to “pearl boat”, what I really like) from a friend who found it while cleaning out an old apartment. It’s fairly old; its packaging looks like it was sold in the 1970s.
As a child I was obsessed with sea creatures—shells, lobsters, crayfish, … You can still buy boxes of seashells and even nautilus shells in stores today, which I wouldn’t do, because I wouldn’t want to support the killing of those animals, obviously. However, the nautilus shell still is a beautiful objectification of nature, mathematics and beauty. I take good care of it.
