It's Friday in gorgeous Colorado, which of course means 14er adventures with some of my favorites.
Counting on less snow, with just as much alpine awesomeness and sunrise stoke as we started the season with πŸ‘πŸ»πŸŒ„ #optoutside #wildernessculture #colorado

Every time I go out, everyone talks about returning to the real world.
But my real word lives where the sun warms your skin, where the breeze blows across your face, where the earth slightly sinks down under your feet, where everything else is stripped away and we are the truest version of ourselves.
It's the places like this, looking over the world, that are more real than anything else I've seen in this life #optoutside #wildernessculture #norway

This is Laguna Sucia in Glaciares National Park, Argentina, which translates to "dirty lagoon". I'm pretty sure whoever named it just wanted to keep all this beauty to themselves πŸ˜‰ #optoutside #wildernessculture #patagonia

Insomnia does have its advantages sometimes. Watching the moonlight move across the looming walls of the Grand Canyon all night is surely the best one I have found so far πŸŒ™ #optoutside #wildernessculture #grandcanyon

Returning to Rim Life after 9 days rafting the Colorado through the Grand Canyon has been a surreal experience.
This is a place of extremes, and we were either roasting in the heat of the day, shivering after dunks in the icy water, or pulling cacti out of out legs and feet for so much of the time.
But then there was laying outside every night, watching the stars and the moon light up the canyon walls, delicious food cooked on a beach in the most picturesque setting, flying through the air, weightless over a big rapid, the peace that the constant sound of rushing water brings, deep conversations with no distractions, and the pull of the canyon walls looming overhead at all times.
Relatively few people get to see this part of the park, and I'm feeling pretty grateful to be one of them.
This is my mom, looking out over all that beauty. #grandcanyon #optoutside #wildernessculture

If evening strolls come any better than this, I surely haven't discovered it yet πŸ™ŒπŸ» #optoutside #wildernessculture #canada

For a few days before this evening, the clouds were thick and heavy, the constant pattering of rain hitting our tents, beading down our jackets and pants, soaking the ground, the peaks with little gray hats, hidden from sight.
Luckily patience pays off sometimes, and the most epic conditions so often live on the edge of storms - funny how nature imitates life so often.

We all have our obsessions, sunrise in places like this is definitely one of mine.

That feeling when you find a campsite this epic πŸ•πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ• #optoutside #wildernessculture #norway

This was the first time our little group had seen any glimmer of sunshine in days. The constant pattering of rain on our tents finally abated, and we wandered out into the world.
Luckily, the landscapes in this magical land are always worth the wait.

Is there anything better than those first rays of light creeping over the horizon, hitting your skin, the mountains glowing red and orange, bringing new life to everything it touches?
For me, those first few moments of color and newness are everything πŸŒ„ #forceofnature #colorado #wildernessculture

This past week, one of my favorite ladies in the world came to visit me. We climbed, we drove hundreds of miles across the beautiful state of CO, drank all the coffee, shared deep conversations about this thing called life, cooked gourmet meals at the most epic base camp, and topped it all off with a midnight hike so we could run around mountains like this.
Thanks @meredith_coe (and all my amazing people!) for making my soul happy ✌🏻 #forceofnature #optoutside #wildernessculture
