#fridayintroductions anyone? My friend @andrewshepherd recently took a lot of nice photos for me and I want to use them, so that means you can read a few tidbits about me since it's my excuse to share the photos. 🙃 1. I'm a type 4 on the Enneagram, which can translate to me being really introspective, emotional, melancholy and empathetic. Sometimes these are things I find burdensome, sometimes I realize they help me to make the work I care about and that touches other people, so I take the good with the not so good. Also if you ever want to talk with me about the Enneagram I'm aaaallll about it. 2. I struggle with believing positive things about myself and to be 100% honest I feel ridiculous saying that in this context but I'm working on being more open about that so there it is. Connecting with people on a deep level is the most important thing to me and I can't do it if I'm not willing to share more of myself (thanks, therapy). 3. I love cats and dogs and if you have one I'll probably pet it and talk to it instead of making eye contact with you for awhile. Don't take it personally. 4. My husband and I met in design school when we were 19 and 20. We got married 10 years ago and had surprise triplets at 25 and 26. 5. No, multiples don't run in our family. We didn't do any fertility treatments. 2 girls and 1 boy. They are amazing individuals and I make all my choices around what's best for them and our family, but I'm still my own person and they are their own people and my husband is his own person and I want all of us to be able to live in harmony while our individual selves flourish. Sometimes it seems that this may be seen as selfish that my world doesn't totally revolve around my kids, but as a mom my biggest goal is for my kids to have the unquestionable sense of security and love from our family to feel confident enough in themselves to pursue big dreams. If I'm not pursuing my own big dreams what kind of hope am I giving them (especially my girls) for their own future?
Phew, that's a lot of sharing for one post, so 👋 and #happyfriday
