“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11
I came home for the summer in 2017 without a degree after spending four years at Howard. In all my analysis of what went wrong, I thought modeling may have been a distraction, and toyed with the idea of stepping away. The day I decided to quit, I got a call from @breannwhlgn, who I didn’t even bother telling about my plans to quit since she wouldn’t have taken no for an answer anyway. I kept modeling without active pursuit. I found out Howard wouldn’t renew my scholarship for the fall. It didn’t make sense according to the plans I thought I had for my life, but all I could do was work and keep seeking God for his plan for my life. In the fall, @alexanderjulian told me to send him pictures, made me a portfolio and connected me with some people in NY. I got baptized again and rededicated my life to Christ. I went to New York with confidence in Christ saying that I wasn’t leaving without good news, and got an offer from an agency. The Lord told me the devil was going to put up a fight, and he has been ever since. In seeking God to know whether I was making the right commitment, God sent a word for my life that was beyond what I’d hoped. @meshthemuse invited me to a vision board party, which was outside my comfort zone. I was searching for what to compile; the Lord told me that it was my faith board and to include everyone I wanted to work with. It took me about a month to finish. During that month, the new year arrived with a declaration that it would be my best year yet.
This is a visual of God’s loving thoughts toward me, of his plan to use me to reach people wherever I go. If you ever feel like God can’t or won’t use you, that he hasn’t called you for his glory, remember this testimony and let it encourage you. He promised that if you seek him and acknowledge him in all your ways, he’ll direct your path. As you watch me, remember that none of this is by my own power, but because of God’s unfailing grace and mercy.
Thank you @statemgmt for welcoming me with open arms. We have a bright future ahead of us. ❤️
