About 10 years ago my friend Nick showed me the ways of Marc Bolan and T. Rex. Although I had heard of T. Rex before, I was never properly introduced. Within the first five seconds of "Mambo Sun", Track 1 on "Electric Warrior", I was hypnotized by Marc's subtle brilliance in songwriting and lyrical imagery. I now couldn't imagine a musical world without Marc Bolan's songwriting in it.
Today is the 40th anniversary of the car accident that took his life two weeks before his 30th birthday
A friend of Ringo Starr, a peer and influence to David Bowie, and one of the pioneers of glam rock. Marc Bolan's importance in the development of rock music is too often overlooked.
Even though most people have heard T. Rex without realizing it, i.e. "Bang A Gong (Get It On)", 20th Century Boy", "The Slider", I wholeheartedly suggest if you've never consciously been aware of them/him (Bolan) to put on the album "Electric Warrior" this afternoon as an introduction to what I believe is some of the best rock/pop music ever created. 🇬🇧 To make it easy, there's a YouTube link to the entire Electric Warrior album in my bio today 👌
I hope you like it as much as I do. 👏
Have fun today!
