After a mad dash of packing, clearing, and moving, I am pretty much ready for the movers to come tomorrow morning. It’s really starting to hit me that in a few hours I will wake up for the last time in my home of the past 10 years. It’s the longest I’ve lived anywhere in my life. I’ve lived here longer than I’ve known many of my closest friends. I was just barely starting to figure out who I was when I moved in, I was definitely just a kid then! It’s a strange feeling and I will miss this place and most of my neighbors. A lot of my long time neighbors had sold their places recently, and some kids much younger than me moved in. This weekend was symbolic: one of my new neighbors was having a party, and one of his guests did something rude, so I gave them a piece of my mind. I’m the grumpy old man now, not so much the partier. I’ll take it! But on Sunday after the Communion Closing Party, a few of my closest friends came by for one last hurrah, and I’m sure we stayed up way later than those rookies next door. Still got it!! It’s been a good run, but my time is up, and I am so ready for the next phase in life.
Here’s a picture @afromatics took of me posing in front of the wallpaper that came with the place when I bought it (foreclosed), textured and padded red brick, and the party flyer we used it for - the first ever party Drew, @elijahrome and I ever threw, the legendary Jean Jam
