Each year in August Edinburgh hosts what has become one of the largest Arts Festivals in the world, bringing together a diverse range of performers, from a huge array of artistic disciplines, converging in this historic and picturesque city.
The festivals first began in 1947, the brain child of an Austrian impresario, Rudolf Bing. From its
early years, the Edinburgh International Festival brought artistic icons to the city each summer for
the enjoyment of enthusiastic audiences, keen to be a part of this post war cultural revival.
