World Games, It's been a blast! I technically had the best meet of my life because I had a 5kg PR total of 770kg (1698lbs) with a 312.5kg squat, 220kg bench, and a 257.5kg deadlift🙃. But it sure didn't feel like it once the meet was over. Coming into this competition, I had set extremely high goals for myself, none of which I was able to hit. I wanted to break the all-time record on squat (326kg), I wanted PR in each lift to total 800kg, and I wanted to walk away with a silver medal (because there was no way in hell I was going to beat one of the greatest of all time Sergey Fedosienko). And I didn't achieve any one of them. Well I almost achieved one. After I got my last deadlift I was pleasantly surprised to hear from Gene Bell that I was currently in the silver medal position. There was a shred of hope that despite only going 7/9 on my attempts and not totaling close to what I expected, I may still end up with a silver medal. Then that dream was also shattered. I was bested by another individual, Hassan. And rightfully so. He came out of nowhere and smashed the all-time deadlift record with a 315kg (693lb) deadlift on his final attempt to claim the silver medal.
So, I walked away with a bronze medal at my very first World Games competing against seasoned Veterans in the sport of powerlifting. I have a lot to be thankful for. Just being on that podium was an honor. Yet, I am still not satisfied. Honestly, idk if I ever will be lol 😅. I feel like too many mistakes were made and I left too much out there to be satisfied. The show must go on. I have a lot more I would like to accomplish in this sport, so be on the lookout bc I'm coming back hungrier than ever before.
All that said, thank you to EVERYONE that supported me and continues to do so. You guys are definitely helping me make my dreams come true and I really appreciate it. The love that I have gotten this entire time has been amazing and I feel so blessed to have the community that I do around me. Shoutout to you know who y'all are lol! #worldgames2017 #teamusa #powerlifting #Titan #Beef
