Happy birthday my sister, my best friend, my sheven-shots-before-shunshet πŸ˜…πŸ’• Can't believe you're 28 today and that it's been a whole decade since I met that 18 year old girl on the grass at UJ. Thank you for 10 years of the purest, most effortless friendship! For uncontrollable fits of laughter, for two-man games nights, for crowd pushing at music festivals and drunken shopping trips, for learning strange new words with me and loving twisted documentaries too. Our friendship makes me believe in destiny and your 'idiosyncrasies' are what make you so dear to me πŸ˜‰ I wouldn't be who I am having not met you. I love you my Gugi, here's to you!

You make me better πŸ’•

Nostalgic πŸŒžπŸ–πŸΊ

Sorry I'm late, I didn't want to come.

Matchy matchy πŸ‘Ÿ

'You're the sun in my morning babe' 🌻

Happy birthday my sweet love🎈Words fail me every time. I want to thank you for so much today, but mostly for making me believe again... in fairytales, in the purity of love, in goodness, in truth. You are the most extraordinary man and you've shown me that love really can be everything I once thought it to be. Most days I find myself thinking 'how is this even real life'? I wouldn't choose anyone else to spend my days with, doing everything and nothing. Thank you for choosing me. I hope I'm lucky enough to get to laugh with you for the rest of our lives. God bless the day you were born Belly! I love you endlessly πŸ’•

Old world charm X new age eccentricities 🏒

We're two today ❀🎈 Alain, there aren't enough words to tell you just how grateful I am for you. You have brought me joy unimaginable, shown me a love I didn't think possible. Thank you for never letting me down, for always being on my side, for being a man of your word. You make me better. When I look at you, I know God's got me. I love you best friend. Here's to forever ❀

I picked up Yaa Gyasi's Homegoing at Exclusive Books before we left on holiday. The book is a raw portrayal of the slave trade and its impact on future generations, told through the stories of two fictional Ghanaian half sisters and their descendants. I don't usually recommend books to people I don't know personally as I think the premise of 'a good book' is something subjective. However I hope everyone reads Homegoing at some point. It is both riveting and disturbing, and it forces us as Africans to confront some hard truths.

Thank you to the best man for the best holiday. We're about to start the journey back home and I am at a loss for words to accurately describe what's in my heart right now. It's not everyday you meet someone that gives so much and asks nothing of you in return but love. Let me just say this - my heart is so full. I love you more than I ever imagined it possible to love another human πŸ’•
