@carvedinatree is a project I created dedicated to my Aunt Judy who was diagnosed with ALS over a year ago. She used to love being outdoors and finding tree carvings, which are unique because of the connection they create between the past and present. People have always found carving in a tree as a way of expressing their beliefs, friendships, love, etc. When she was diagnosed with ALS she quickly became sick and was no longer able to enjoy spending time outdoors. So I used my resources to take photos and encourage others to share their special tree, that way my aunt Judy could enjoy everyone's special tree on her iPad in her medical bed. She passed away in her sleep this morning and so today while hiking through the woods I noticed a particular tree with a peace sign. I decided to carve my Aunts name into that tree with a heart to show her I love her and that I'm at peace with the life she lived. She was an amazing aunt, friend, artist, and truly genuine person. I will miss her greatly but in her memory I will continue posting unique trees I find and share other people's special trees. I don't necessarily encourage people to go out and carve or destroy a healthy tree but if you find a unique tree carving or already have your own special tree by all means feel free to share! a carved tree shows it has a scar from the carving but overtime the scar has healed and therefore the tree can still grow and be reborn by blooming leafs, flowers, etc. in the spring, same way life goes on. Rest in peace Aunt Judy, Love Ry.
