Having a healthy gut flora is vital for your overall health and well-being.
It’s important to know that different strains of bacteria have different benefits.
When supplementing with a probiotic, to get the full benefit of the product, you should be choosing a strain that is tailored to your specific needs.
A strain like L. Acidophilus is the best for acne and vaginal health.
A strain like B. Lactis is what you would want to supplement with if you are looking to boost the immune system.
If you are a woman that experiences hormonal acne, a weakened immune system and issues with her vaginal health - I would highly recommend @GenuineHealth advanced gut health probiotic women’s DAILY as it is specially formulated to support vaginal, skin and gut health.

😂 That truth.

❤️ I hope that you never give up on your health.
I work with many people with autoimmune conditions, and most of them have heard that there's not too much you can do about it once you have it.

The immune system is quite complicated, but the truth is - there is a lot you can do to put your condition and symptoms in remission by removing triggers and toxins, addressing any possible infections, giving your body the nutrients it needs to thrive, supporting your immune system, lowering inflammation throughout the body, healing your gut and reducing overall stress.

If you suffer from an autoimmune condition, I highly recommend assessing the state of your microbiome, possible omega-6 to omega-3 ratio imbalance, metabolic stress/overall stress load and serious nutrient deficiencies.
I do not believe there is a one size fits all approach, but I want to encourage you to never give up on your health. ❤️ #autoimmunedisease #autoimmuneprotocol

5. Deadlifts (4 sets, 10 reps)
6. Back extensions (4 sets, 10 reps)

What are your favourite back exercises?

What’s the deal with the Ketogenic Diet?
I personally think there are right and wrong ways to do any kind of diet.

Whether you’re keto, paleo, a vegetarian, a vegan or HCLF – if your diet consists of highly processed foods and is lacking in quality nutrient dense foods – you’re probably not doing it right.

Of course, if done correctly – there are many pros to a ketogenic style diet.

Pros:

1. Increased fat-burning
2. Improved cognitive function and mental focus
3. Lower insulin levels
4. Reduced inflammation
5. Can be used as a tool to weaken cancer cells (as most cancers thrive off of glucose)

So what are the cons?

Read the rest on my latest blog. 💚 #ketogenicdiet #ketodiet

Experiencing digestive issues, skin conditions and inability to lose weight even with caloric restriction? It’s time to focus on the health of your liver.
Basically, if your liver is not functioning at it’s best – your hormones will have a hard time remaining balanced.
Not only is the liver in charge of metabolizing hormones and converting thyroid hormones (T4- inactive form to T3- active form) – but it plays a key role in the detoxification processes within the body.
If you have excessive amounts of toxins built up within the body (whether it’s from too much alcohol, drugs including prescription drugs, pesticides in foods and environmental toxins) – your liver will have to work in overtime to engage in it’s normal processes.

Liver detox smoothie recipe:
1. 2 beets (stimulates liver function)
2. 1 tbsp @GenuineHealth greens + (neutralizes heavy metals and toxins)
3. 1 scoop @GenuineHealth vegan proteins (builds and repairs tissues including muscle, skin and the liver)
4. Frozen berries (high in vitamins and antioxidants, which aids the body in synthesizing toxic materials into substances that can be absorbed by water and eliminated)
5. 1 avocado (fat source - which helps make the nutrients more absorbable by the body)
6. Filtered water

If you are experiencing digestive issues, skin conditions, high LDL (“bad cholesterol”) and low HDL (“good cholesterol”), excess abdominal fat/inability to lose weight even with caloric restriction, I highly recommend checking out "The Hormone Reboot - Digestive Healing" (which also focuses on liver health) in the guide section of my website. 10 things to remember when trying to boost your self-confidence:

1. Visualize yourself the way you want to be. By taking the time to visualize the way you want to be, it teaches you to recognize what you actually need to help you succeed in reaching your goals.

2. Get out of your comfort zone and do more things that scare you.
3. Surround yourself with people who lift you up and spend less time with who undermine you.
4. Put more energy into your positive traits.
5. Be grateful for what you have.
6. Start recognizing your achievements and viewing your mistakes as learning opportunities.
7. Work on developing more skills that will make you feel more confident.
8. Use criticism as feedback and a way to improve.
9. Do what you need to do to satisfy your personal self-care needs.
10. Stop trying to validate yourself through comparison

My body doesn’t change as much as I used to think it did.
The last 3 weeks that I have been travelling - I haven’t seen the inside of a gym once.
I’ve used resistance bands twice, and the rest of the time was spent walking around for hours exploring.
I’ve had salads and green juices, but I’ve also had dessert almost everyday.
I weighed myself today, and I’m the same weight I was before I left. Even if I wasn’t, I think it’s important to still allow yourself to feel good about yourself (even if you think you look different)

Take home message:

1. There are so many better ways to track your progress than the number on the scale. Focus on your mood, sleep, energy levels and how you actually feel about yourself.
2. Getting movement in should be enjoyable and make you feel good, not stress you out.
3. Sometimes taking a break from your normal routine can actually help motivate you.
4. No ones health and fitness journey is linear. Your journey should be focused on getting yourself on a better track and learning to love yourself through all the stages. It's a never ending journey, so learn to enjoy the ride. ❤️

I think it’s important to know that leading a healthier lifestyle doesn’t mean constantly restricting yourself and staying in prolonged caloric deficits.
Leading a healthier lifestyle is about consistently making smarter choices and upgrading your nutrition when possible!
I don’t count calories (I never have), and I definitely don’t think about how many calories I would have to burn to burn off treats like these (because it doesn’t exactly work like that)
I take a very practical approach to health and I’m a huge advocate of the 80/20 rule.
The 80/20 rule is all about consistency – meaning 80 percent of the time you focus on eating whole nutrient dense foods, and the other 20 percent of the time you have the freedom to eat as you please.
I personally believe that the 80/20 rule easily allows a healthy relationship with food by enabling mental/emotional freedom.
It’s important to remember that eating a salad is not going to make you lose a bunch of weight, if you’re consistently eating poorly.
This also means that indulging in an unhealthy meal isn’t going to make you gain a bunch of weight, if you’re consistently eating well.
Consistent actions will create consistent results.
If you are restricting your calories, I actually suggest planning days to increase your calories with the purpose of increasing your metabolism and altering your hormones to ensure your body is in an optimal fat-burning state.

I think it’s important to keep good health, but I also think it’s important you take the time to enjoy it too!

These churros were definitely worth it.

One of the reasons why you should never compare your journey to someone else's (besides the obvious variables that go into someone else's journey - what their nutrition, training intensity, rest and recovery is like etc), simply comes down to genetics.
Let me start by saying that your genetics will determine how your muscles will look when you get lean enough for them to become visible.
This means your genetics determine the actual shape of your abs or your biceps and how they look on your body.
Your genetics can also determine where some people naturally carry more fat.
At the end of the day - you just need to focus on your own journey and stop undermining your worth by comparing yourself to others.
Not only does everyone have different strengths and different weaknesses - we all perceive them differently as well.
Embrace what you have, and never compare your own weaknesses to other people's strengths.
By altering your mindset and changing your perspective, you can determine what your strengths and weaknesses become in your life.
Life is a lot more beautiful this way 😊

Exploring the streets of Barcelona eating chocolate covered strawberries on a stick - does it get any better?

I usually don’t eat when I’m distracted and I think it’s a huge overlooked factor when it comes to digestive disturbances.
Mindful eating is so important when it comes to digestion.
Digestion takes place in a parasympathetic state (aka when you’re relaxed) and is greatly impacted when you are in a sympathetic state (aka fight or flight)

It’s important to know that any type of stress can affect digestion - and your body perceives distraction as stress.
Not only can distracted eating (eating while walking, driving or even watching tv) impact your digestion - you can also easily miss your body’s cues and overeat.
Are you mindful when you eat? #mindfuleating #digestivehealth #chocolatecoveredstrawberries
