Here is a pic of me, my brother and dad circa 2006. This was at F.A.N. gallery in Philadelphia and it was the first solo show of my career. Dad was battling cancer and his health was declining but he managed to come to my opening. It was nice to have him there. He saw for the first time that I was making this art thing happen and my brother told me that dad was proud that I had my first show.
It's hard to believe how fast time has flown by. Fast forward 12 years and I'm about to have my 10th solo show. Also at F.A.N. Gallery. I've gotten to know Fred, the owner of F.A.N. pretty well over these years. He's seen me go through the lows and highs of life. He's been a great supporter of my work and approaches the business of selling art with true passion. As many of the galleries in Philadelphia have closed in the last few years he has kept going strong. I've told him a few times I think he's the best art dealer in Philadelphia. He probably thinks I'm joking but I'm not.
It seems like a lifetime ago this picture was taken. So much has happened since then and yet at the same time the years have flown by in the snap of a finger. One cool thing is that our baby daughter will be there. It will be her solo show! The exhibition opens Friday, April 6th at F.A.N. Gallery 221 Arch St. Philadelphia PA
I hope you can come see it :) www.thefangallery.com 215-922-5155
