With one week left in the regular season, Big Mac mashed a first inning, two-run homer off Brewers starter Scott Karl to increase his HR lead over Sosa to two. The 423-foot blast was Mark’s 32nd and final HR on the road that season, tying Babe Ruth’s 1927 Major League record for most in a single season.
In the 5th inning of the same game, Big Mac appeared to hit his 66th HR off RP Rod Henderson. Instead, the 2B umpire ruled fan interference & credited McGwire with a ground-rule 2B. After seeing the replays, most fans believed Mark was robbed of an extra HR. #BigMacFlashback
