@kristinavaraksina here again! This image is a part of my fine art project "She Is in High School". The story in this series is about young girls shown in the 70’s school environment. I had a retro style set built for this shoot, but of course a big part of making this image come together was post production. I wanted to archive a warm, retro, 70’s look.

Color grading here was done with the help of my favorite Capture One’s Color Editor and Color Balance tools. In the Advanced Color Editor I was able to edit different the colors selectively – so amazing and saves so much time!

Russian-born @kristinavaraksina has resided in the USA since 2010 and currently lives and works in New York.

Kristina is recipient of multiple prestigious photography awards, like Prix de la Photographie, Communications Arts Photography Annual, Int’l Photography Awards, PDN Faces, and many more.

Varaksina’s focus is to capture human emotions and the psychological impressions of her subjects' mind – permitting the characters to project their internal reality. Kristina Varaksina's personal works are etherial, projecting the psyche onto the corners of a room. Through a conscientious attention to light and a soft palette these allegories come to life and absorb the viewer into their microcosm.

Kristina Varaksina is represented by WIB agency, who manages her fashion and commercial work.
Her fine-art work can be found in several galleries around the globe: Themes+Projects San Francisco, Brownie Shanghai, Lumas Berlin.

“Getting up before sunrise can be challenging in Summer, but shots like this make it worth it every time. During the short moments when the sun first appears, I go into a panic to capture as many angles while it lasts. With no extra lighting on hand, I was able to bring back the darker detail of the car while preserving the sky in Capture One. It retained the look I was aiming for without feeling over-processed.” - Ian Wood

“This angle is always fun, taking a car shot higher or lower than eye line always adds a new perspective. The painted lines helped exaggerate the length of the beast, I was also happy to get the rear pillar parallel with the frame. The ‘Specific’ series are taken in square format and processed with Capture One. I love the light touch the program allows, helping me bring out the best of the natural light as intended.” - Ian Wood

“This composition is from an ongoing personal project I call ‘Specific’ where the subject is tightly framed to tell a story, a kind of automotive portraiture only using prime lenses. This is a great example where the scene came together, the boxy building architecture somehow helping to describe the rear of this beautiful Chrysler woodie. The sign ending with the word ‘round’ just worked in my favor.” - Ian Wood

This is what Dedication is all about – with a constant stream of sand being thrown across the Mesquite dunes in strong wind, the obvious thing to do would be to get up high. But not if you wanted the show from down low, as Felix did.

With a lot of Felix’s creative work requiring unique and mysterious landscapes, the hexagonal salt-flats of Death Valley provided a perfect backdrop for a sunset capture. ”This was like nothing I’ve ever photographed before – a truly unique place to shoot” - Felix.

Couple of months ago we announced a #CaptureDedication competition and we were blown away by the stunning images and powerful stories that were shared with us.
Our 1st prize winner, Felix Hernandez @hernandez_dreamphography, got a chance to participate in a 6 day workshop in California together with Capture One Brand Ambassador @paulreiffer. Using the dramatic landscapes of the California desert and the city lights of San Francisco, Felix was able to create spectacular images in his own unique style.

@bryanminear here for the last day of my Instagram takeover.
This was the last stop on my most recent trip to Utah. It was pretty cloudy the entire time that I was in town but that didn't detract from the incomparable beauty that I saw over the 3 days that I was in town. I got all of the shots that I wanted of this scene, packed up and was pulling out of the parking lot when all of the sudden, the light broke through and the alpenglow was as vibrant as I have ever seen. We were already back on the highway and had to drive a few minutes to the lower parking lot of the falls. Knowing that I wanted a more vertical view for scale, I took off running up the muddy hillside, nearly falling down several times. But I made it just in time to get a few shots of the lovely red light kissing the top of the ridge. What a great way to end a trip.

Thank you all so much for following along with me here on the Capture One account for the past week. If you have questions about the processes that I use feel free to reach out!

@bryanminear here again!
Visiting Yosemite for the first time was something of a dream come true for me. Ansel Adam's work is what inspired me to be a landscape photographer in the first place. So seeing what he saw all of those years ago was special like I can't explain. Sure there have been millions of photos taken from these locations since, but I always see it as an opportunity to create something completely unique via post-processing. Every moment captured is a completely unique moment in time. We should always look at what we do this way, elevated and important.
