Are you or someone you know considering participating in a clinical trial? You may find it useful to speak to someone who has 'been there before'. Trial Connect is a phone-based program which connects you to a volunteer who has participated in a clinical trial.

If you'd like to know more, call our cancer nurses on 13 11 20 or visit http://bit.ly/TrialConnect

Aren’t our volunteers glamorous? Check out some of the ladies who strutted their stuff on the catwalk at the Women’s Weekly High Tea Party over the weekend. Not only are they star material, but these women are also cancer survivors and carers!

A huge thanks to Burch & Purchese Sweet Studio, The Windsor Hotel, Simone Perele, as well as everyone else who generously donated prizes for our raffle. What a special day it was!

Whether you have cancer yourself, or are looking after someone with cancer, it makes sense to take good care of yourself. Eat well, gentle exercise, get enough rest and make an effort to do things you enjoy. To help you relax, order a free copy of our Relaxation CD by visiting http://bit.ly/CCV_CD or call 13 11 20 to speak to a cancer nurse.

Speaking to others sharing the same experience as you can be therapeutic. We offer a free service connecting people going through cancer with someone who has 'been there before.' "It's very reassuring to talk to someone who had experienced the same type of cancer”, previous Cancer Connect participant.

If you would like to know more about the Cancer Connect program, call 13 11 20 or visit http://bit.ly/Cancer_Connect

Looking for a healthy dessert to satisfy your winter cravings? Look for desserts packed with fruit! Fruit helps lower your risk of developing heart disease and some cancers and also helps you maintain a healthy weight. We love LiveLighter’s berry rhubarb meringue pots for a sweet treat.

Did you know that over 250 distinct Indigenous languages once existed and that today only 120 of those are still spoken?
This year, the theme for #NAIDOC Week is Our Languages Matter, in celebration of the role that Indigenous languages play in cultural identity, spirituality and sharing of history. As part of our #NAIDOCWeek celebrations, we were fortunate enough to learn about the power of language from Caroline Martin, a Traditional Owner of Boon Wurrung land.

“I feel grateful that I can raise money. I feel grateful for the people that help me. So many people want to get involved because cancer has touched their family and this is a way to give back.”
Meet Betty, otherwise known as ‘The Daffodil Lady’. Betty’s been part of the Daffodil Day family for 20 years, and over time has raised an incredible $500,000 for Cancer Council Victoria. Betty will be putting on her pin and encouraging others to volunteer this year. #Belikebetty and register for Daffodil Day: https://www.daffodilday.com.au/volunteer

This week is NAIDOC Week and today we were fortunate to have Caroline Martin, a descendant of the first people of the Boon Wurrung from the Yallukit Willam, give a Welcome to Country.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is ‘Our Languages Matter’ – see http://www.naidoc.org.au/2017-national-naidoc-theme for more information.

Cancer Council Victoria is committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal Victorians.

We love all our volunteers, but did you know some have been with us for an amazing 30 years?! Say hello to Doreen and Beryl. This duo has been part of our Moe Volunteer Group since 1987, and since then have helped raise almost $1million for Cancer Council’s work in research, prevention and support. Wow! Words can’t express how much we appreciate the ongoing generosity and support from Moe, and all of our volunteer groups. You’re amazing :). #cancervic #cancercouncil #thankyou
