Hi Dad, it's me again. I'm sorry I can't be with you today. I ache every single day to be so far away from your resting place. Uncle Ted and his family are leaving a rose from me today, please know it represents my love and pride for you. I'm so proud to be the daughter of a war veteran. I'm so proud that you saved the lives of your fellow soldiers when you were only 17 years old. I'm so proud you were awarded Purple Hearts for your bravery. I'm so proud that you have a brother who looked up to you and admired you so that he spends his days telling me stories about you. I'm so proud I had you for three years before you left, even one day would've been enough. I miss you every single day, and I know there are men and women you fought beside so many years ago who are remembering you fondly. To all the soldiers remembering their lost friends and family members who've served and lost their lives, I hope today is meaningful for you and I send you all my love. To the sons and daughters who have lost parents in the war, I stand by you not just today, but every day it hurts and claws and creeps up that you can't call your mother or father. Here's to those we've lost. Dad - I'll talk to you in my dreams tonight. I love you.
