Campaign for Female Education  We work to break the cycle of poverty and disease in rural Africa by educating girls and investing in economic and leadership opportunities.

At the start of #secondaryschool, Desderia had to walk three kilometers to school, often on an empty stomach. Her school attendance became erratic and after recognising the danger of her situation, a Teacher #Mentor, Agnes, organised Camfed support for Desderia and for her to stay in a school accommodation. She has flourished in her new environment and is now Head Girl of her school. #girlseducation

Dr. Runyararo Mano from Zimbabwe was the first Camfed alumna (CAMA member) to become a #doctor and is now a paediatrician. She has seen the impact of #poverty on #health and the ability of children to stay in school. She says that #communityengagement is key to improving both health and education. CAMA members deliver health and wellbeing sessions in their rural schools and communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
