Operating under a partnership agreement with the Municipality of Toruń, Tumult Foundation runs a number of investment projects under the name “Revitalization and modernization of the former Evangelical church building, located on Rynek Nowomiejski in Toruń, through renovation and conservation” as part of the “Toruńska Starówka – protection and conservation of UNESCO cultural heritage - stage II” project under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment for the years 2014-2020, co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund.
The aim of the project is the preservation, maintenance, exposure and proper use of the cultural heritage of the Medieval Town of Toruń, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, with increased access to cultural resources and improved conditions for cultural and educational activities. All projects planned by Tumult Foundation in its building are in full compliance with these guidelines.
The first task – conservation and modernization of the attic of the building – was carried out from August 2017 to January 2018. According to the schedule, the conservation works covered: roof structure, thermal insulation, modernization of the ventilation, air conditioning and heating installation, new flooring, wall covering and new stairs to the attic. As a result, stable thermal and climatic conditions in the attic were created, whereas the roof structure was protected against fire and organic degradation, with architectural order introduced and the historic character of the roof structure properly exposed.
