Callie Davis  Living joyfully by the grace of Jesus. Film Wedding Photographer with NRP. Wife to Jamie and mama to #bokehandbaye & a bunch of backyard chickens.

Let the countdown begin!!! I’m so excited to finally be able to share all the images from Kasey + Zach’s @rosehillplantation wedding with @rroseevents featured in @thecarolinasmagazine - available on stands in July!

Up next on my reading list: The Life Giving Home. This book came in perfect time with our big move coming up next month (hopefully 🤞🏻). I’m so excited to dive in and learn more about making our home a place of belonging and becoming. Have any of you read it?! 🏠 #thedavisdwelling

“For all the things my hands have held the best by far is you.”

Last night at an engagement session, my couple asked me “Why film?” and I got to joyfully explain to them why we choose to capture moments on film! (They even wanted to watch me roll film and load it into the camera 🤓) Their question reminded me about how much film has changed me as photographer for the better!

1️⃣ It has forced me to slow down and be intentional. I thoughtfully compose each image rather than just aimlessly snapping away or settling for an image that isn’t up to par because I know that each time I push that shutter, it costs $2.20.

2️⃣ I trust in my ability as a photographer more than ever because I don’t have the reliability of looking at the back of my screen. I’ve grown to trust in my talent and to be confident in my skill.

3️⃣ My work gets noticed by wedding planners and publications. I’m now working with my ideal clients who value quality over quantity, a relationship and beautiful, timeless images that will be loved and cherished forever.

Do you shoot in film? If so, comment with a 🙋🏼‍♀️ and tell me how it’s grown you as a photographer! Or if you want to try shooting in film, comment below with a 🧐 #shootfilm #filmphotographer #fineartfilm #foundationsinfilm

Being a wedding photographer is a lot like being a detective or investigator. I’m constantly on the lookout for the small and meaningful details and moments that happen throughout the day🧐 Can you spot the teeny tiny detail in this image? It’s so small that it could have easily been looked over but after years of training my eye, I know where to find the sweet spots.

I grew up watching them build and create. My dad worked in home building for 20+ years and my mom has a degree in interior design. We often laugh about all the fond memories @dillonhp and I have as kids spending countless hours in lighting, paint and tile stores.
These two were constantly working on projects together. By the time I was in middle school, we had lived in 10 different houses that they had designed, built to some degree and then sold. This was a completely normal lifestyle for me.
Even with us out of the house now they’re still doing this, and they’ve been teaching Jamie and me along the way. I don’t know where we would be in our renovation project without the two of them. They have dropped everything to answer our phone calls, joined us at design or vendor appointments and spent countless hours on the project guiding and giving us advice.
I love you both and hope that Jamie and I will still be working on projects together like y’all when we’ve been married for 28 years.

Today’s goal: finalize tile, sinks, cabinets, countertops and paint colors, and find a spot in our new house for a wall like this 😍

This past year of marriage has looked a lot like this picture: our community surrounding us and our family in prayer as tears roll down our faces while we humbly whisper to the Lord “We trust you even in the midst of this hardship.”

I’ve realized more than ever before that we are not called to walk through this life or marriage alone. This year we have come to a deeper understanding of the power of prayer and the power of community, and our marriage is stronger because of it. We’ve learned that it’s good to ask for help, to not hold back our emotions and to approach each day that we are given with a grateful heart.

Celebrating 4 years of marriage with William James Davis today knowing that if it weren’t for our tribe, we might not be the people we are today.

Happy anniversary, my love. #misspittstomrsdavis #beating50percent

This month alone I will travel from the dreamy beach all the way to the magnificent mountains; Fayetteville, Bluffton, Farmville and Boone. I love how this job takes me to so many different, beautiful places that hold so much meaning to my couples.
