Plank army crawls. Looks simple enough right? Try it for yourself, this will get you more than you thought. Sometimes the most exhausting exercises are the simple looking ones. I don’t care what your are training for it’s good to step outside of your comfort zone for a few sets and you will be surprised.
This ultimately works your core but it’s a good upper body exercise thats functional too. Throw this in as a warm up or cool down. How did i learn to do one arm pushups? This is the first part of the exercise progression. It’s pretty simple but can be harder than it looks depending on your upper body strength. Do one arm planks. That’s it. Find your right hand placement and engage your core like a normal plank, but it will work your shoulder and triceps a lot more. The trusty one handed push up. WOOOO! This is something I have always wanted to do, it is hard in the beginning but keep practicing. It’s not perfect, not Rocky yet but on its way. Lol. Still have to make sure i keep my hips square. The third rep on that first set wasn’t pretty but it got done, lol. Hold yourself in the top position with one arm. Brace not only your core but all the muscles in your body. Slowly lower self. That’s the first half, so practice that for a while to get comfortable in the motion, that’s the easier part. It’s not easy to do but it is fun once you can do it. Don’t skip leg day. Love it, learn to love it, or love to hate it lol. Legs and the lower body are vital if you want overall strength or if you just want high functionality. One of my favorite lower body exercises is prowler training. Some@people might know it as pushing a sled or heavy foam box jump with weight plates. This one always cracks me up. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else just take care of yourself. I know it sounds cheesy but everyone is different. Yes some people are on steroids so don’t worry about them. Or sometimes they are just taking a whole lot of supplements (i have nothing against taking supplements). Regardless, different people want different things out of fitness. The healthy natural way is the way to a longer life without side effects from ‘roids and it’s sustainable.
If you want too lift heavier get a proper training program, so when all those dudes stop taking ‘roids or massive amounts of supplements they will shrink, but you will stay on top of your game. Also you will be saving a bunch of money because a lot of supplements can get pretty expensive. This one is all about tempo. If you have light weight you can still make it a challenge, if you slow the tempo down. Regardless of the exercise you are doing this is a good exercise progression because this puts more time under tension for your muscle fibers. Add the number of reps to taste. When you slow the tempo you will surprised at how “worked” your muscles feel.
