Gratefully thanking #marshapjohnson, a transgender black woman, for reportedly throwing the first shot glass at The Stonewall Riots, in June of 1969. This moment in history was the true turning point of humans fighting for queer rights. It was no longer a fight behind closed doors, this fight became one of the brightest and bravest of American history. Happy Pride. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆโ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

In light of recent events, I will donate $5 from each sale of the first 20 of my new tote bags to the Women's Refugee Commission--'Advocating for the rights and protection of women, children and youth fleeing violence and persecution.' With the sale of just 20 bags, we will contribute $100 to help families who have been separated at the border. The message of my new tote bag is TOGETHERNESS and HUMAN CONNECTION--two basic human rights these families urgently need. โค๏ธ Link in bio! [Photo taken at the beautiful @allmost.us in LA๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’•]

Walking around NYC and I saw a dream of mine that I hope comes true. #familiesbelongtogether

I did an illustration for the newest @munch_planet based on a story, written by @bestlauren, about a woman 'trying to find balance between her old self and her authentic self' all while embracing her new path of sobriety. "....learning to say no to others and yes to myself has been a lesson in self love." Thanks @munch_planet - I really dig you ๐Ÿ‘„๐ŸŒŽโค๏ธ

My mind is always working on something.โœจ

"The more we hear peopleโ€™s stories, the more we all continue to connect with one another through each otherโ€™s experiences, which ultimately and, hopefully, brings us closer together as humans." I said that while being interviewed by @herstryblg last summer and it was no new idea for me. I have always been drawn to human experience, identity and connection. Many times, in some of my saddest moments I have had a random conversation with someone and it has lifted me. I made these tote bags recently (Illustration from my 'We All Have Broken Hearts' zine) with that exact thought in mind - CONNECTION CAN LIFT US. ๐Ÿคโค๏ธ๐Ÿคโค๏ธ๐Ÿค

I've been living in Brooklyn now for 8 months. 8 months of NYC money stresses, forever long late night subway rides (crazy subway rides in general), carrying Stella up and down a 5 floor walk up 3 times a day, everyday. Sprinting and missing trains, buses, and fucking up the routes all together. Working a full time day job, managing to create new items for my shop, all while working on freelance any free second of my day. Crying a lot when I first arrived from my anxiety and fear of the uncertainty. Having (almost) every other week lunch dates with my brother, that I am over the moon grateful for. Loving the NYC idea that you can be anyone, wear anything and no one gives a flying fuck. Stepping outside my door everyday and seeing every type of human being; hearing every type of language you can think of. Getting spoiled by bodegas, the fresh fruit, veggie and fish market just outside my apt. Having hella confidence walking down the street; getting lost on purpose and figuring out my own way. Embracing parts of myself I knew would bloom as soon as I came here. And those parts of me I couldn't be more excited about it. ๐ŸŒˆ Feeling that it's all too much sometimes and I want to run back to my life on the beach in FL. Feeling extremely tired but pushing my body anyway. Waiting almost 6 months on doctors waiting lists and finally getting the care I need. Making the most random, inspiring and special human connections that lift any given day for me. My work taking on new clients, new ideas and most importantly growth. Being shocked (still) that I am here and that I live here. And even with this extreme true love/hate, up and down relationship with NYC I don't regret this decision for a second.โœจ

As I am packing up orders, I see it all coming together. Bits and pieces of my myself reflected in every bit of my evolving little brand. ๐ŸŒˆ
I always feared what the process would result for me. Fear of it not being "good enough" or "special enough." But as time goes on and I let my process be what it is I have found that: it IS special. And it IS enough. Because being a hot mess is all about being your rad, unapologetically HUMAN self. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽคโœจ
