Here’s unsolicited pictures of my butt to show you all Version 3 of the wrap pants I’ve been working on. I know I got mixed reactions about this style when I shared an earlier version in my stories, but I am all about it. I’ve seen wrap pants, but they’re usually wide leg and very drapey - I was hoping to make something slightly more structured and close to the body. There’s still a few minor changes that need to happen (pants are useless without pockets!), but these a v wearable and v comfortable.

Seems like as much as I try to use color, I always end up back here.

“Kintsugi, also known as Kintsukuroi, is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.”
The reference was not intentional, but when I finished patching this quilt it felt a bit like a rhyming practice.

My quilt with no name was accepted to Quilt Con 2019 🕊 It will be on display in Nashville February 21-24.
I have a lot of personal insecurities about my work being too simple or not technical enough that I tend to project on other people and organizations (like Quilt Con) so acceptance feels very reassuring. Also, I’m sliding in at the very last minute fulfilling my 2018 goal to be in a show (the goal was actually to HAVE a show, but I’m counting it).

Photographing a quilt - especially one this big and that I’ve worked so long on - feels like a final letting go. It is done.

Inside/outside. An allegory for life?

Sometimes you just need to make what you feel compelled to make and figure out what it means later.

One of two.

New little babies 🏡🌟

I thought my latest dip in my very spent indigo vat yielded nothing but duds, but I ended up with the most perfect light blue of all time. 🌊☁️

A Diamond Star in indigo. I’m making a list of October must watch movies, any suggestions? So far I have:
💀Mean Girls (“it’s October 3rd”)
💀Hocus Pocus
💀Sabrina (anyone else pumped for this new show on Netflix?)
💀Stranger Things
💀Nightmare Before Christmas
💀Harry Potter
Pls tell me your October faves (I’m a baby and don’t like anything truly scary)
